«Задумывая собрать треклист из работ, которые оказали на меня большое влияние, в итоге я обнаружил целую коллекцию музыки с акцентом на перкуссии. Это может показаться не слишком удивительным, учитывая то, что я, по сути, барабанщик — но сильное влияние этих треков на свое творчество я, действительно, обнаружил в момент составления треклиста. Некоторые треки были моими фаворитами на протяжении многих десятилетий, другие — стали совсем недавно. Я предполагаю, что их всех связывает своего рода наслоение ритмов, тембров и регистров, а также использование необычных звуков, взятых из реального мира или не «музыкальных» источников или собранных с помощью таких коллажных техник, которые я нахожу сложными и восхитительными.

Некоторые треки перекликаются с эпохой, в которой они были созданы; другие — кажутся мне уникальными, неподвластными времени. Каждый трек в свое время менял мое представление о музыке и звуке; их всех связывает единое творческое мышление, не ограниченное жанровыми рамками и нормами. Вместе с тем в этих работах прослеживается игривый и легкомысленный подход, приоткрывающий иные границы восприятия, но при этом не влияющий на доступность и увлекательность прослушивания — по крайней мере, лично для меня.

Также я включил сюда два недавних релиза, в создании которых сам принимал участие. Когда я посмотрел на весь треклист и осознал масштабы его влияния на меня, я понял, что мне было бы интересно поместить в этот контекст мои новые работы — то есть сделать своего рода реверанс в адрес той музыки, которая так много значит для меня. 

Надеюсь, всем понравится этот материал. Лично я получил много удовольствия, пока составлял этот микс и заново открывал для себя эту замечательную музыку».

«I was asked to make this playlist and, while thinking about including things that have had a big influence on my music in the past, I have ended up with quite a percussive focused collection of tracks. This might not seem too surprising, given that I am, in essence, a drummer, but while compiling the list I have become aware of a strong line of influences that have run through my music making endeavors for a great number of years. Some of these tracks have been favorites for many a decade, others more recent. I guess what links them all is a kind of layering of pulses, timbres and registers, and the use of unusual sounds, sometimes drawn from real world, or non-“music” sources, sometimes collaged in ways I find rich, complex and satisfying. 

Some tracks resonate with the era in which they were made, others seems to me to have a distinctive, timeless quality. Each track has changed the way I had been thinking about music and sound, and all share a quality of creative thinking outside the norms and limitations of a specific genres, and often, surprisingly to me until now, have an almost playful and irreverent quality that push boundaries while remaining approachable and fascinating — at least to me anyway.

I have also included two recent releases I have been involved in, because, as I looked over the pieces I have chosen, and become aware of just how much this music has influenced me, it felt like an interesting context within which to place these tracks;  a nod and acknowledgement to the music that has come before and that means so much to me.

I hope everyone enjoys it. I had a lot of fun making it and revisiting some of this great music».

In 2000 David released critics´ acclaimed cd the guitar on swedish label Häpna and has since then released bow on Kning-Disk (2006) and Separator on Found You Recordings (2009).
