Who can ever forget the stunning use of David Sylvian’s "Forbidden Colours" as theme from the Nagisa Oshima film, "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence”?

As main writer and vocalist for Japan (Gentlemen Take Polaroids), David Sylvian came to prominence in the 1970s.  His subsequent solo work encompassed not only his own innovative projects but also a series of fascinating collaborative efforts. A master of highly experimental sounds, his output has covered a variety of musical styles and genres, including jazz, avant-garde, ambient, electronic and progressive rock, with his music used in a number of feature film soundtracks.
