Liam Chambers aka HOOLIGAN is this weeks entry to the Four Four Local Selection Mix Series. The talented Cork DJ and producer completes the 172nd edition to the series, comprising of a groove infused, hypnotically driven recording from start to finish.

Boasting releases on Sonic Intel, SPEED and Disintegrated, it is clear that HOOLIGAN is no stranger to Ireland’s and more notably, Cork’s underground dance scene. Having played in ‘An Spalpín Fánach’ and ‘Crack Jenny’s’, coupling this with his involvement in Kriptik, a collective running private events in unique locations around Cork, solidifies this fact even more.

Kriptik looks to have gained a very strong reputation in quite a short period of time and are definitely a party to keep an eye on in future. It looks to be another positive contribution to the reignition of Cork city’s party scene that is badly needed. Bravo.

HOOLIGAN’s approach to Techno reflects images and soundscapes of the dark basements of Berlin. His love for rolling basslines and heavy hypnotic grooves, where he blends the old with the new is apparent throughout his recordings as well as his productions.

In this mix you can expect a 3 deck workout made up of some cracking releases. Some of which include tracks from HOOLIGAN himself, British Murder Boys, Kaiser, a host of Key Vinyl releases and more. Get stuck into this.

Our Friday premiere comes courtesy of Cailín as she debuts on Diffuse Reality. The Subject resident showcases a screw-face styled acid tool from the Waterford native.

Hailing from Waterford, Cailín is known for her dedication to the art of djing and vinyl only style. A name applauded in Berlin and recognised as far as the Americas, the 2x Boiler Room selector has rightfully become one of Ireland most respected DJs.

A long-time resident at District 8 and Subject, Cailín regularly appears alongside huge names such as Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Richie Hawtin, Ben Sims, Ben Klock, Paula Temple, Dax J and I Hate Models, to name just a few while also playing sets at Tresor, ADE, Bossa Nova in NYC, as well as being a regular at Life Festival, Boxed Off, Circles and Electric Picnic, reflects Cailín’s pure ability to work the turntables.

As a producer, Cailín’s discography is steadily growing. Her debut 12″, ‘Phantom Love Affair’, 4 tracks of raw, machine fuelled techno, caught the ear of Dave Clarke, who chose her as one of his favourite producers of 2021. Shortly after she contributed to Ben Sim‘s huge Symbolism VA as a handpicked artist alongside Lady Starlight, Insolate and Ritzi Lee. Since then, she has had a steady stream of releases on labels like [R]3volution Records & Diffuse Reality with more on the schedule for 2023.

Cailín’s debut EP on Diffuse Reality ‘Let It Go’ showcases her upfront & two-fisted style of production as she hones in on gritty analogue sounds through six club ready tracks. We premiere ‘Temptress’ a tweaking acid cut that lyes on churning drum rhythms and scowling acid lines, as she dives between harsh four to the flour rhythms & jolting broken beats. A left-field look into analogue acid techno.
