At RLSD Records we aim to invest in and develop people. Every-once in a while we find artists with something extra going on, Spedned was one of these acts for sure. Under the tutelage of RLSD's Sunil Sharpe & Doug Cooney in BIFE it was clear from the outset that Spedned has something extra special going on. Illustrating his realness on and off the decks helping and encouraging his peers selflessly.

Spedned's has had a meteoric rise of late moving from strength to strength, co-founding Hidden Love back in 2021 he’s gone on to play venues all across the city such as Index, The Sound House, and Bow Lane while also supporting the likes of Vil, Cravo & Tommy Holohan.
 
Quickly establishing himself as one of the most skilled & gifted selectors in the capital, he prides himself on his work ethic and dedication to the craft. Heavily inspired by the late 90’s / early 2000’s era of techno which follows in his mixing style, he comfortably moves between vinyl & cdj creating a high octane performance. Expect energy infused grooves from the get go.

After some of the best sets I've ever seen at Houghton I knew who I wanted on for this month's show - one of my favourite new producers Dylan Fogarty @dylan-fogarty-994382354 , the hardgroove prince himself! I started it off with some broken weirdness and progressively got more groovy before the man from Dublin took over with a slammer of a guest mix. Our first premiere of the week comes from Galway based DJ & producer MEJMI. The budding producer has recently released a 3 track EP which is focussed on the textured side of minimal techno, as MEJMI finds solace in off kilter rhythms, funky sequences and alien soundscapes.

Galway based MEJMI is originally trained in classical music, but she has been making a name for herself recently as she’s moved her musical prowess into a the darker territories of minimalistic techno. Her distinct 90’s inspired sound draws influence from acid to rave and is focussed on paying respect to the routes on dance music culture.

MEJMI has garnered a solid reputation for rocking dancefloors in recent times. The young DJ has recently found herself playing on the Polish circuit on both a club and festival level. She has headlined at the slutty virgin festival and K-fest in Kerry and made appearances country wide playing for Cheek Eire, Blue Print Festival, Kriptik , 3ip.ka, Prospekt, Dv8, as well as more gigs forthcoming.

MEJMI’s three track contribution to Faoi Thalamh Records is steeped in deep sea excursions, as MEJMI manages to capture aquarian soundscapes through polyrhythmic sequences and off-kilter rhythms. ‘Skrzyczne’ poses at the most dance-floor friendly track out of the lot, as hypnotising synths glide around the syncopated grooves. Jarring synth lines seem to ripple and melt throughout the track, as dynamic 900 grooves stir intensity, agitated metallic hits leave listeners feeling somewhat on edge, and most certainly unhinged. This is a big tip for fans of Stanislav Tolckachev, Lewis Fautzi & more.

ANTIDOTE Premiere: DAHVEED & Ronan Dawe - Middle Ground

We premiere an all Irish techno weapon from Rustal with Jon Hussey on remix duties for the newly formed Circuit Structure Records label curated by Offtrack. Jon’s remix is pure and pounding broken techno at it’s very best, hypnotic synth lines lay across hammering bass drum and percussion hits to brutal effect.

Simple but effective the concept has been in label owner Offtrack’s mind & in the making for the last two years. Circuit – A synonym for Loop. Loop driven techno of many structures. All things bleepy with a hint of the sound from the 90s.

Rustal’s sound is heavily influenced by authoritative techno figures, wether it be Claude Young, Steve Rachmad, Shifted or Moritz von Oswald, the Dublin native is known for extensively delving into classic and contemporary techno sounds. Peter’s obsession for cavernous techno experimentation has landed him in some elite clubs, cities, parties and played alongside some of the world’s finest.

Jon Hussey creates expertly crated techno, that is categorically deep, rolling and packed with intricate rhythmic touches, but when speaking about Jon, categorising it is utterly pointless, as his evolution as a DJ and producer is incessant. Jon has released music on Irish imprints Earwiggle, Delinquent Delivery and RLSD. His collaborations with the late Stuey Lyons [R.I.P.] are thought to be some of his best work, receiving widespread notoriety and support from some of the leading techno DJs in the world. Jon also notably had his work on RLSD remixed by Japanese techno icon Takaaki Itoh.

Jon’s remix is dripping with Slovakian techno flavour, similar to the sounds of the early 2000’s that were championed by DJ Boss, Bas Mooy, Jeroen Liebregts and more. The is a golden & dynamic loop, thrusting over pounding low end and sharp percussive grooves. This is simply beautiful.
