Gesprochene Steine“ Klagende Steine" - "Sprechende Steine"

Bei einigen meiner zahllosen Spaziergänge durch meine Stadt Hamburg, mein altes Stadtviertel Altona, begegne ich häufig diesen so genannten „Stolpersteinen“ die in manchen alten Straßen in den Fußweg verlegt wurden. 

Sie liegen so unscheinbar da. Ich lese Namen, Geburt und Todestag jener Menschen die hier einst lebten. 
Blicke auf und manchmal steht sogar noch das alte große Gebäude wohin die Steine den Weg weisen.
Sie sind mahnende Gedenksteine von Ereignissen tiefster Finsternis.
In vielen deutschen Städten und Gemeinden auch in Hamburg wo ich lebe, wurde die jüdische Bevölkerung verfolgt, deportiert und ermordet.
Ein sehr dunkles Kapitel meines Landes.
Ich verspüre eine Ohnmacht über das unfassbare Schicksal dieser Menschen.
Ein in Stein gemeißeltes Gedächtnis und Vermächtnis. Sie sind nicht mehr Namenlos. 
Sie haben hier gelebt. 
Dennoch sind diese Menschen für immer verschwunden.
Ihre Stimmen, ihre Künste, ihre Kraft, ihre Bräuche.
Diese Steine mahnen, rufen und sprechen häufig zu mir, wenn ich über diese Steine gehe. So empfinde ich.
Bleibe stehen, verweile, gedenke unser.
Ich höre stumme Schreie, wehklagen. Sehe schemenhaft, umherhuschende dunkle Schatten. 

Dies veranlasste mich zu dieser düsteren und traurigen Komposition.
Denn ich finde keine Worte mehr. 
Die Steine sprachen zu mir. Es sind „Sprechende Steine“
„Singende und klagende Steine“

"Spoken Stones" "Wailing Stones" - "Talking Stones"

On some of my countless walks through my city of Hamburg, my old district of Altona, I often come across these so-called "stumbling blocks" that have been laid in the footpaths of some old streets.

They are so inconspicuous. I read the names, dates of birth and death of the people who once lived here. Look up and sometimes even the old big building still stands where the stones point the way.
They are admonishing memorial stones of events of deepest darkness.
In many German cities and communities, including Hamburg where I live, the Jewish population was persecuted, deported and murdered.
A very dark chapter of my country.
I feel powerless over the incomprehensible fate of these people.
A memory and legacy carved in stone. You are no longer nameless.
You lived here.
However, these people are gone forever.
Their voices, their arts, their strength, their customs.
These stones often admonish, call and speak to me when I walk over these stones. That's how I feel.
Stand still, linger, think of us.
I hear silent screams, wails. See vague, scurrying dark shadows.

This prompted me to create this somber and sad composition.
'Cause I can't find the words anymore
The stones spoke to me. They are "talking stones"

Where does love go? we seem to be born with a natural love for others..color blind..culture blind..and then we make teams/chose sides/wear uniforms. and lose empathy/common sense..
We need to remember the instinctual love and bond we have for and with each other if we hope to overcome the bombardment of self serving false narratives we get everyday on social media/news/political speeches ...

don't recall the details but it seemed so real
I was standing in a dark room in a cold wet sweat
not a sound to be heard, not a touch to be felt
and I thought to myself as I stood there alone
this must be earth and I was chilled to the bone

then I saw a blue light shimmering up ahead
I could see it was warm and I could feel it was strong
and I knew it had the power to push back the night
If I could only find a way to give it a chance
the light was the love trapped deep inside me
I had to find a way to set it free
the more I thought about it, the more I looked inside
I realized the key was me

surrounded by some many like me looking for the light
trying to find a way to push back the night

is the love that we seek just a blue light in a dream
or is it buried in our hearts waiting to be freed
we made it captive to our fears
we starved it with our greed
it strains to break the chains that we shackled to its feet

love is something we're all born with
it's ours to use or lose
it just gets hidden by our weakness and fear
trust in yourself and in all those around you
let the light shine bright and push back the night
