Back in March, I played at my first outdoor bush doof party. These parties usually feature a lot of Psy-Trance music, this one was all about Techno! Trench goes DooF w/ Nihad Tule (Sloboda/Sweden)

This party was held on a private property, in remote country Southern Highlands NSW, over 3 days, 2 nights, deep in the Australian bush, about 2+1/2 hours drive from Sydney. The performer lineup included a whole heap of Sydney's Techno talents.

As I like to do, I played a range of Techno sounds: big, bass heavy, broken beats, percussive, harder intensity, deep, dark, sinister atmospheres, going on a journey, into some deeper hypnotic territory, a little acid, with some melodic moments too, before climaxing at the end. I also included some tracks with creepy, sci-fi, alien encounter/abduction, and creatures of the darkness vibes, to suit the location.

This 1 hour show/mix features many of the same tracks I played at the party, during my 2 hour set at 3am, inspired by the location and experience. It was a lot of fun playing Techno music at high volume, with loads of bass, through a fantastic sound system, out into the Australian bush.

David McCann - 53 years young, a veteran of Adelaide and Sydney (Australia) live band, rave, club, electronic music and party scenes. 

Relocated from Adelaide to Sydney in 1995 with Adelaide/Sydney 90s rap, rock, techno, 6 piece live band - Bliss.

100s of live performances across Australia as keyboard player/songwriter, in dance/rock live bands, late 1980s - late 1990s, as hardware based producer, live performer 'DAMC' (rave, hardcore, techno, jungle, drum'n'bass) 1992 - 1998, and as 'TECHiONE' (funky, melodic, hard, tribal, techno) 1998 - 2005.

Bliss - Live band gigs, with/supporting: The Shamen (UK), Regurgitator, Skunkhour, Def-FX, Renegade Funk Train, Insurge, Sound Unlimited Posse, Caligula, D.I.G, SuperGroove, Swoop, Frenzal Rhomb and more.

Various DJ gigs in Sydney 1999 - 2005, and a few in 2008.

2007 - 2016 took a step back from music producing/performing, DJing. Continued regularly attending, supporting Sydney techno/music club nights and events. Traveling and clubbing interstate & overseas in Europe.

One-off retro rave live performances as DAMC in 2013, 2014 and 2016 in Adelaide, at Flash Back II, Ultraworld NYE 2014, and Party With A Purpose II events.

2016 got inspired by new sounds in techno music, new friends, Sydney techno DJ Loveless (RIP), and starting doing the digital DJ thing, putting mixes together. Invites to DJ out began.

Passionate about a variety of underground techno music sounds: Deep, dark, atmospheric, brutal, heavy, twisted, minimal, broken, hard, light, beautiful, melodic, hypnotic - all depending on mood.

Loving the industrial, EBM, broken beats, heavy and dark atmospheres in modern techno music right now, still a fan of the rave. Not a fan of the new "hard techno" fast techno, tik-tok techno fad.

Born in Zurich and grown up in Italy, he moved his first steps to the techno world in the late 90’s, taking inspiration from his idols Jeff Mills
and Dave Clarke.

His first appearances behind the console began from a young age. Do to his talent, he become very soon resident in some historic places in his province (Vicenza). His artistic career achieved his first major achievements in 2001 when he debuted with his first “Zool EP” vinyl on Underground Media Records by Mauro Picotto and landed at the legendary Italian techno club Matrix in Brescia, where he has been regular resident for five years.

Since 2005, Stephan has continued his musical growth by playing jn some of the best Italian techno clubs & festivals such as Nature Beat Festival, Shame Clubbing, Ex Dogana, The Room, Amnesia, Mantra, Electrique, Il Muretto, Alterego, Bolgia, Sonica Dance Festival, Mood Boom Festival, and recently abroad, Poland, Netherlands, Croatia, Spain, Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Slovakia, Switzerland and Malta, in clubs like Sfinks700, MTW, Subclub, Depo Klub, Bollwerk, Sugar Factory, Space Monki, Trax Club.

Since 2013, he is resident in HYPER’s events in Italy (near Venice), which became the stage for international techno legends such as Dave Clarke, Speedy J, Ben Sims, Oscar Mulero, Surgeon, Slam, and many, many more:

His latest EPs has been released on SK Black (includes the hypnotic remixes of Xhei and ViL) on Naked Lunch, TMM by Vegim, District4 (with two remixes for Dj Emerson) and SMR (with remix for Israel Toledo & Lathan).

Italian’s techno icon, Stephan Krus’s sound includes not only years of experience as a DJ, but also 20 years as a techno lover and fan. His djset is a mix of old-school rhythmic, distorted and industrial rhythms, hypnotic synths and power-full kicks: a journey towards unexplored galaxies with an ever-turned look towards the farthest past.
