Ineffable (Lustrous Enfoldment Mix)

This is a largely improvisational track recorded sometime in the mid 1990s. All I had was a loose motif bassline with an echo harp type of sound I created myself. ...  I riffed on the  bassline, and then I improvised the rest of the track around that, layering with various sounds I also developed myself and no sequencer involved (hence the loose structure. Lol! 😅). 

I had no effects units, so I literally had to program reverb and delay effects into the sounds, not to mention I programmed velocity sensitivity on a couple of sounds. All I had at the time was a Casio CZ-101 and a Casio CZ-5000, and recorded it on a 16-track tape machine (I think it was a Tascam).  

This track really showcases how incredibly versatile the massively underrated Casio CZ series could be with a bit of judicious programming.  

Nonetheless, you can hear the throughline from what I was doing back then in many of my more recent tracks, which are largely composed in DAWs with Virtual Synths and Effects nowadays (with the occasional touch from my vintage hardware synths including a Yamaha CS1x).  

As I said, it was recorded sometime in the mid to late 1990s. The best copy I could find was dated October 1998, but I know I recorded it before then. ... The fidelity of the recording is low, due to the fact that I recorded it on tape to begin with, and over time, the tape has degraded a bit.
