'A stalwart, and in the true sense of the word (as well as being one of the nicest people you could hope to meet on a night out), Al Bradley has been obsessed with House Music from the moment he stepped through the doors of the seminal Hacienda night club in Manchester in the summer of 1989. It’s an obsession that’s lead him down a long and winding road, including 18 years and counting as a label boss, allowed him to feature on nearly 100 releases as well as celebrated residencies for powerhouses like Fabric London, Bugged Out Manchester and Pioneer DJ Radio. Being the kind of guy Al Bradley is though, he’s still also made time to kick it with the younger cats at spots like Stereosleaze (London) and Lip Service and Deadbeat Disco in his adopted hometown of Leeds. 

We’re genuinely over the moon to bring you this EP, and as such, we’ve complimented the originals with what we feel are some pretty dandy remixes, spread across both the Vinyl and Digital releases, coming from the likes of self-proclaimed “product of a mis-spent mancunion youth” Danny “Moodymanc” Ward, the vinyl enthusiast’s favourite Tommy “Vicari Jnr” and the ever evolving genius of Colour Series Label Boss “Jem Haynes”

'Labyrinth Records continues its 2021 schedule this December with a debut EP from Innervisions-mainstay Alex Medina. AlgoRhytm EP acts as the third release on the label, fresh from the success of Cedric Sheva’s Tour d’Velo and Tronica already this year. The lead single, AlgoRhytm, will be out on 29th October, setting the tone for a standout year for the label.

Alex Medina described how the release came to fruition, stating: “My inspiration is always the same - surfing, meditation, family and my love of electronic music. I'm happy when someone understands my sound, which Nick does, so I was excited to contribute to his label Labyrinth Records.”

AlgoRhytm leads the charge. An atmospheric dance cut, gentle key rolls meander into whispering kick-hat combos, showcasing the raw and emotive sound with which Medina has become best known.
Indeed, such a sound has not gone unnoticed by one of electronic music’s leading figures in recent times. Having been voted the world’s No. 1 DJ by Resident Advisor three years in a row, it was in 2020 that Dixon signed Alex’s Golden Teacher to Innervisions, releasing it as part of the label’s pivotal Transmoderna compilation. The track received its first play on Dixon’s ‘Streaming From Isolation’ Boiler Room mix that year.

The German-linchpin continued to support Alex’s musical output throughout 2020. Endless Summer from Medina’s own Mumbai Records became a staple record of Dixon’s performances, despite dancefloors being few and far between. Such a feat only highlights the quality of Alex’s productions, a testament to his keen-ear for producing compelling, emotionally-charged dance music.

The next phase of the EP will come in December, when Biesmans remixes will be heard for the very first time. It will begin with his Ambient Version of Thicker Than Water, as the Belgian sculpts a musical narrative packed full of poignant chords and beautiful key solos. His regular remix comes next, manifesting as a driving dance cut that feels rhythmic and electric in one thanks to an infectious synth-fuelled backbone, whilst AlgoRhytm gets beautifully reinvented to end proceedings on a high.

Spanish-mainstay Alex Medina is an established figure in the electronic music sphere. Cutting his teeth in the early nineties, his discography boasts releases on some of dance music’s most-esteemed imprints, including Innervisions, Stil Vor Talent and many more besides.'

Panama-born and now Berlin-based duo KEENE deliver a deep and trippy interpretation of the Sparrow & Barbossa 'Saudades Do Mar’ on their Cacao Records label, which celebrated its 5th Anniversary last year. Stompy toms, unusual percussive rhythms, a wild heated melodic line and some acid to spice up the day complements the outstanding vocals in Portuguese from Tosz, making it an outstanding remix to look up.

David Castellani is a techno producer and modular synthesist with a main focus on peak-time, dance floor-driven energy. David’s sound, fueled by an array of analog hardware, showcases the intricate aspects of modern music production, while staying true to the fundamentals that inspire you to let loose on a dark warehouse floor. 

Italian-born Castellani moved to Chicago in his early years and began his musical journey as a percussion player focusing on jazz-fusion. After an extended focus on classical training, David began pursuing electronic music production which led to a catalogue of releases, collaborations, and remixes by respected artists like Superfreq boss, Mr.C.  

Now living in Los Angeles, Castellani launched his new record imprint, Noetic, which cultivates smart and dynamic techno music. With a heavy focus on modular synthesizers and analog hardware, both Castellani and Noetic feature a boundary-pushing feel, filled with hypnotic sound design, explosive lead lines, futuristic sound palettes, and driven rhythms.

Outside of music, you can find David digging into the many facets of design as the co-owner of the art-driven fashion line, After Infinite, as well as, partial founder of the new modular synthesizer company, Anti-Kulture.
