Nu Groove was one of the pioneering house music labels to ever come out of New York. Originally active between 1988 and 1992, its mark on the scene was to be felt for years to come. The cult label has been lovingly cared for by Defected since 2017, who acquired the catalogue and re-mastered and re-delivered it for a digital world. Now Nu Groove will release new productions for the first time in almost three decades, with NYC pioneer Jovonn the first to release new music on the imprint. Coming in with storming two tracker ‘Random / Get Over It’, this pair of flawlessly executed cuts illustrate Jovonn’s innate production abilities. From the headsy funk of ‘Random’ with its playful synths and jazz-infused horns, to the shift in energy for something wavier and almost otherworldly in ‘Get Over It’ (Soulfrican Soul Bass Dub Mix), Jovonn’s production mastery is that of a true house master.

Parisian producer and DJ S3A has been releasing his take on soul-infused, sample heavy electronic music over the past decade via imprints such as Syncrophone’s Phonogramme, Lazare Hoche Records, 4Lux and Dirt Crew where he dropped his debut album. Here after the success of his debut LP ‘Pages’ and the ‘92’ Anthem’ track, which featured on the inaugural Collective Cuts release alongside music from Asquith, KETTAMA and 9th House, S3A returns to the imprint to conclude the story of his half acoustic half electronic album with the ‘« Pages » Epilogue’ EP.

 Davide James is an amazing performer. 
He approaches to live music and production with great passion. His driving force is his love for music and a unique inner energy.
Originally trained as a drummer, Davide developed soon his interest and talent into Jazz-Pop-Rock and other musical directions before he started to express himself with electronic music.
In early 2009 he moved to Berlin, Germany, where he spent several years playing in most of the Berlin clubs with kmln (chameleon), which was an experimental and training experience for him.
