Kinetic_for mixed ensemble

Davide Tammaro is an Italian composer and guitarist whose work blends innovation and tradition. His music is diverse, ranging from classical orchestral and chamber pieces to jazz and contemporary compositions.

In 2022, his orchestral work Tempus was chosen as mandatory contemporary piece for the renown conducting competition Premio Cantelli. The work, published by Edizioni Sconfinarte, was premiered during the XII Premio Cantelli in Italy by the Orchestra of Teatro Regio of Turin with Maurice Cohn as a conductor.
Winner of the 2019 Premio Musica Nova - International composition competition with his String Quartet No.1, Davide’s works have been performed and/or selected as finalist at several international competitions and calls for scores such the 2019 HighScore Festival, the XIII International composition competition citta’ di Udine and Sinestesia tra le arti competition, in Italy, the STB composition competition 2020, in Austria, the KLK musica per archi composition competition 2020 in Ukraine and the 2021/22 Iceberg New Music in New York. 

Davide’s music has been performed in Europe and the USA by Orchestra of Teatro Regio of Turin, Hub New Music, BEO String Quartet, Quartetto Indaco, the North South Chamber Orchestra of New York, the Mostly Modern Orchestra and Ensemble and the KLK String Orchestra of Lviv, among others.
A fellowship recipient from the 2023 Mostly Modern Festival, Davide’s music has been performed at the Connecticut Summer Fest, Charlotte New Music Festival, The Festival 5 giornate in Milan, High Score Festival, to name a few. His music appears on records by Cosimo Carovani (Ad Antiqua) and Giovanni Albini (A Contemporary Ukulele) both published by Da Vinci Publishing.

Experience as a guitarist include the release of a jazz-rock album, Ghosts, recorded in New York in 2014 with his own quartet as well as touring with indie rock artists across the U.S and performing at venues such as The House of Blues, SXSW festival in Austin, TX and Americanafest in Nashville, TN, among others.

Before pursuing a master in Composition at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, Davide studied Classical Guitar at the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory in Naples. From 2008 to 2021 Davide lived in the USA where he first graduated from Berklee College of Music and then moved to New York, where he studied composition with American composer Justin Dello Joio.
Additionally, Davide participated in many festivals and masterclasses meeting and learning from some of the most respected composers in the USA and Europe.
