Don't Talk

This is the opening track from my third solo project entitled 'Breath Of Heaven' (ICC 2001). It is a traditional piece, inspired by the theme by Hildegard Von Bingen (1098-1179). Musicians on this piece: David Fitzgerald - Soprano Saxophone & Flutes, Tim Oliver - Keyboards). All solo recordings are now available on itunes or as part of the four CD box set entitled 'In Paradisum' (Ebb & Flow/ICC Records).

• Roland RS-505 Paraphonic String Machine/routed through a Stereo Memory Man pedal.

I composed this tune to lyrics by a teenaged hospice patient who had very little time left  to live. Her beautiful poem is read first by BBC Newsreader Martyn Lewis, with an underscore I composed especially, followed by the complete song, recorded here by the Choir of Millfield school in Somerset. The poignant lyrics, written by a girl who would never get to the fast lane of life, express a deep desire for us to slow our lives down,  and make more time for people rather than 'things'.
