After a 12-year gap since the release of two albums and two Eps, Linda Mirada presents her new album ‘Qué largo es el verano’. Featuring a collaboration with North Satellite, production and mixing by Metro Area’s Darshan Jesrani, contributions from Bart Davenport and Daniel Collás of the Phenomenal Handclap Band.
Linda Mirada’s new album got off to an unforeseen start a few years ago when she proclaimed - “I’m going to record a record in Italian”.  To this day that idea has still not been carried out, but her first record in twelve years has since materialized. It doesn’t feature a single song in Italian, but it breathes the spirit of the early 80s pop in southern Europe with flashes of Italo disco.
The idea of recording an LP was born from a conversation with Daniel Collás that opened an unexpected door. What began as an exchange about musical affinities activated the need to reignite old ideas that had been put aside. The vertigo of composing and recording music gave way to the pleasure of working on songs. Time in the studio, collaborations and stories that grew as they came into contact with melodies were all guided by intuition, fertile disorder and the complicity of those who crossed paths in the process, plus a few coincidences. The result is a sensational collection of songs that moves between intimate hedonism and gentle melancholy. There are echoes of the most sophisticated sounds of the 80s, the candor of early electropop, influences of Mediterranean pop and splashes of disco. All with a fresh look, without indulging in nostalgia or clichés.
‘Qué largo es el verano’ is an album made with joy and care. It channels Mirada’s influences into songs that shine with their own light. These seven tracks – plus a PHB Dub - crystallize a very personal way of understanding music as an everyday space, where the production is not the main focus, but with an intention in each note and in each chosen sound. This album brings Linda Mirada back to the forefront of a little-trodden but necessary territory; that of Balearic pop made with sensitivity and elegance. And the single in Italian is sure to come one of these days.

Leeds imprint Paisley Dark has carved out a reputation for psychedelic chug and shadowy late-night burners, and their latest signing fits right in. Enigmatic newcomer Viper Patrol makes a bold entrance with two originals that are heavy on the acid, low-slung in tempo, and dripping with afterhours intent.

Dancing Voices spirals through mesmeric acid lines and hypnotic percussion, the kind of track that slowly works its way under the skin until the floor is fully locked. Def Charge follows suit with darker propulsion, a driving chug wrapped in trippy, psychedelic textures.

The remix package brings serious weight. Cosmikuro ramps up the 303 pressure, delivering a heads-down workout that’s tailor-made for ALFOS devotees. A Space Age Freak Out flips it dubwise, pushing low-end heft and cosmic atmospherics into a rolling late-night groove. Ian Vale strips back to a shadowy pulse, creating a warped, hallucinatory trip that stays relentlessly floor-focused. And Airsine closes with a Balearic-tinged reimagining, weaving sunlit melodies into a peak-time rush that feels equal parts blissed-out and turbo-charged.

It’s a release that perfectly captures Paisley Dark’s ethos: psychedelic, propulsive, and always aimed at the deepest corners of the night.

"27 year old Paul Hazendonk has already got 3 mix compilations under his belt, but the most recent one (‘Sound Shifting’) already dates back to 2006. So you might say the time is right for a new mix compilation; ‘Sound Shifting 2.0’. Just like the first part in this series, this new part will be released on his own Manual Music label, a label that has built up quite a solid reputation worldwide. Ofcourse doing releases with talented artists such as Petter, Jesse Somfay, Guy J, Avus, Dub Taylor, Qbical, Giorgos Gatzigristos and many others helped a lot! On Sound Shifting 2.0 Paul shows what he stands for musically nowdays. The tracklist largely contains track that were totally hammered by Paul in the past period, together with some brand new (and sometimes even unreleased) material. The mix starts out deep but slowly picks up more rhythm and funk with tracks of The Sexicanz (old obscure San Francisco house track) and the Mark Henning remix of ‘What Kinda’. After this Paul takes you into the deep again and we’ll hear the melodic sounds of Reggy van Oers, Mladen Petrovic and Dual Shaman (in the Tigerskin remix). Now it’s time to give the mix some more phase and quickly we are listening to Qbical and Tundra, two resident artists on Manual Music, discoveries of Paul. After the deep techno track by Tundra it’s time for some records that were true highlights in each and every Paul Hazendonk peak time set. The Marko Nastic & Billy Nastic, Localdaddys, Andrea Appoloni and Miss Tickle tracks raised the roof at numerous parties. In the early years of his carreer Paul was mostly known for his hardgroove techno sets, an influence you’ll clearly hear at the end of the mix with the Mango Boy (classic Mr. G production) and Remute tracks. Sound Shifting 2.0 has become an allround mix, recognisable for Paul Hazendonk fans, and a good introduction for those who don’t know him so well yet.
