If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which will be invisible to everyone. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks that have been previously submitted and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

09 - Dead Run

Following a season of live shows that saw the band perform alongside Meursalt; Jonnie Common; Hailey Beavis; and En Attendant Ana, Peplo released their new song 'Tall' on 21/02/20.

The band's music has been described as sounding like "The Cranberries or 10,000 Maniacs but with added complexity and muso appeal" (Storm the Palace). With 'Tall', Peplo cap a successful gigging campaign that took the band to OK PAL Records' all-day festival at Portobello and Last Night From Glasgow's showcase at Celtic Connections.

Peplo fully formed in 2018, with the intention of merging classic pop songcraft with indie sensibilities; 'Tall' is the band's eagerly anticipated debut.

My journey started in 1983 and initially my ambition was simply to be competent enough on guitar to be in a band.

That ambition grew over the years and through perseverance and commitment to my love of music I managed to find a style that is all my own. Of course as writers we all have our influences and I'm no exception. Mine include, Lennon and McCartney, Van Morisson Peter Green, Stevie Wonder, Nick Drake and many more.

The great writers and producers Gamble and Huff, who were responsible for the sound of Philadelphia were also huge influences on me with there wonderful tunes and arrangements.

Songwriting is a craft and has to be learnt over time. Some artists flourish quickly as in the case of the wonderful Nick Drake. Some, like me, need more time. We are not all geniuses!

It is critical to find a producer who understands you as an artist and I have been very fortunate to work with my co-producer Ivan Anchant for many years. Ivan first and forermost is a great musician, the fact that he is also a great producer and engineer has been my good fortune and allowed me to make some fine recordings, of which I am very proud.

I write from the heart and rely solely on the inspiration of the moment. I see songs as gifts and have learnt to cherish those gifts and remind myself to try never to take them for granted.

I have written my fair share of garbage in the past, so I take more time these days. If I feel a song is not worth recording I simply move on.

My CD 'Something Real' is a reflection of me and what I really care about. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I did making it.
