This is the mix I did for Halloween 2020, after when Halloween used to be a "thing". This is a PUMPIN' & high BPM mix; perfect for working out or wildin' out. "Thriller" as a nod to Michael Jackson, but "A Classic" because I pulled most tracks from my "Classics" folder, which is where I file remixes with classic vocals. I have some heavy Tekno in the mix, but hopefully you enjoy the remixes that I used. The vocals on almost every track are classic, from genres that span House, Techno, Pop, Trance, and even a twist of Hip-Hop, and vocals that span from the 80’s to 2020. Lots of vocals in this mix since I was DJing for a large crowd that consisted of a lot of commercial music listeners, but I threw in an underground twist to introduce them to them to underground sounds ;)

A Classic Thriller (Halloween 2020) - David Paul

Hello everyone, thank you for tuning in to my mix, Underground Teknology. This is a live recording from my set my afterhours in August, which was literally held underground. I brought in some of SF’s favorite DJs including d.Santis from our Funky Teknomics team, as well as Bairfro, Larissa Porto, & Br3nt of Junkshop. Everyone threw down some amazing sets and rocked the dancefloor from start to finish. UNDERGROUND TEKNOLOGY - David Paul LIVE - Afterhours August 21, 2021

My apologies for not uploading a mix for years, but I hope you enjoy this one as much as my others one.

This is a raw and unedited mix of the first half of my set at Coco Maya in Playa Del Carmen, BPM 2016. I recorded this set through the microphone of my recorder to hear the ambient noises and voices. When I first found House & Techno in 2000, I bought my first Electronic Music CD. It was Donald Glaude's "Mixed Live" CD from Moonshine Records. I went on to buy 4 or 5 of these "Mixed Live" CDs, which were mixes by Carl Cox, Tall Paul, Dave Aude, and DJ Dan. I always enjoyed hearing the ambient sounds, voices, and whistles. Coco Maya is an immaculate venue and next door to Blue Parrot, and has 2 dancefloors and DJ booths. This was a day party and held at the dancefloor that is located steps from the beach. I started off a little deeper and darker than I usually play, but it's just the chill mood that I was in. Again this is a live mix that I did not edit, other than trimming the beginning and end; try not to be too judgemental on my mixing or effects :)

David Paul LIVE @ Coco Maya At Playa Del Carmen BPM 2016

"Audiotistic" is a mix of the tracks that I selected for my birthday event at Audio SF on April 3rd. That’s why the the tracks are at least 2-3 months old. No laptop, no sync button. I picked out almost 30 tracks for my set. Of course I didn't play all of these tracks at Audio, since I only played an hour, and there are also some tracks that I played that are not in my original tracklist or in this mix.

For the event I brought in Sergio Fernandez of Spain and owner of Insert Coin Records, who has been one of my favorite producers since I began DJing 2010. He put down an amazing set and show, as did the supporting DJs: Scottie E, Jill McDonald, Lindsey Herbert, Frankie Jr., and Dean Samaras. Thank you everyone.

This mix is a little longer than my previous one, but once you set aside an hour and 45 minutes to listen to it, I'm sure you'll have no problem staying tuned in, especially if you love Tech and Techno.  I start off with some catchy Tech tracks, and move right into some heavier bass Techno, then back out to Tech, and then ending it off with a deeper sounding Tech. I have more Tech than Techno in the selection, to stay in line with Sergio's style of amazing Tech, as he played at Audio. AUDIOTISTIC -  David Paul - Audio SF - 4.3.16

This is a live recording from my set at Club F8 on Friday 8.26.16. An event I did with Robot Ears bringing in Ramiro Lopez aka "El Teknero" (coined by me, lol) from Spain. His live mix from the night is on his "Odd Recordings" page on SoundCloud.

This set was recorded on an Allen & Heath Xone 92 mixer (no laptop, no sync button of course), which I am not familiar with, please excuse the hiccups in my mix :) Since I am not content with my mix, I will be using these tracks in my next 2 or 3 mixes and will post those tracklists then. David Paul "Tekno Logik" - LIVE @ Club F8 San Francisco 8-26-16

New year, new MIX! And just in time for BPM 2017.

“Teknorgasm Earshake” is a quick studio mix (did not have my recorder with me that night) of the tracks I play at Great Northern on Dec 4, 2016. I shared the decks with Paco Osuno, opening directly for JP of Robot Ears. The title is a nod to Robot Ears who booked me for the event, as well as a nod to Paco Osuna’s label Mindshake.

The mix is techno-heavy, with a lot of pounding and throbbing bass; you’ve been warned. I also bring tracks that are very melodic, giving what I think, is a good balance to the throbbing bass. There are also a handful of tracks that have very distinct and new sounds that hopefully give you a good eargasm or two ;)

"Teknorgasm Earshake" The Great Northern 12.4.16

“A Dos Of Tech”, because everyone needs a dose of Tech House every now and then, but “Dos” because there were 2 of that did the party; Mauty Funk was my partner. This mix is entirely Tech House, except for maybe the last track. It is a live mix from my set during BPM 2017 at La Choperia, a bar located on the main street in Playa Del Carmen. The mix sounds a bit distorted, but it was the best sounding mix of the 2 I recorded, my apologies for the distortion. It was really fun to play at this bar since it is located on the main street and completely open.
This was my second BPM trip and it was crazy in many ways. Crazy, in that it was awesome, seeing a lot of my favorite DJs/producers, Ramiro Lopez, Green Velvet, Nicole Moudaber, and Carl Cox, who had the only sold out show at Blue Parrot, and had an amazing set as always. Also, awesome because I got to do my own party at Coco Maya again this year and was able to bring my friends to play too. Thank God that I had my party that night, or we would have been at Blue Parrot for sure during the tragedy. The crazy tragedy that ended in 5 dead and 15 others wounded. Coco Maya is right next door to Blue Parrot and we were caught up in the chaos from the shooting. Those shooters do not represent Mexico, the people of Mexico, nor the culture/heritage of Mexico. Please do not let it taint the beauty of Mexico and the people. It’s also crazy that BPM has now ended in Playa Del Carmen because of the tragedy, after 10 great years. I’ve only been twice. May God bless those innocent victims and families affected, and everyone that is part of the House/Techno culture.

Matt Moore - LIVE @ Coco Maya - BPM 2017

This is a re-posting of Nostalgia, which I originally recorded back in March 2012. Somehow it got deleted from my SoundCloud. This mix has received the most response out of all my mixes.

I titled it Nostalgia because most of the tracks are remixes of classic House or Popular song, that span all decades, even as far back as to the 1960's, with The Animals. I grew up listening to, and appreciating, music from the 60's from my parents, 70's from my sister, 80's from my brother and other sister, and 90's until now on my own.

This is live mix from my set at afterhours in San Francisco, the morning of March 26th 2017. This was after my birthday (Aries) event at VERSO with Shelley Johannson of Octopus Recordings. I was not sober and did not pay attention to the levels on the recorder, sorry for the distortion.

Shelley attended my gig and since I was already planning on playing her track, I had to ask her to for her to throw in her own track, she did :) The 3rd track "Like That" is actually her mixing in and hitting the effects. Thank you Shelley.

An Aries Attitude - LIVE @ Afterhours 3.25.17

"A Yuma Dream" is a live recording from my set at Monroe in San Francisco on my birthday weekend, 3/26/17, and just in time for weekend 2 of Coachella. No laptop, no sync buttons. 

Yuma is the Techno tent/stage at Coachella, and the music in this mix has a similar sound as Yuma, which is both Techno and Tech House. I actually felt in the mood of playing some highly percussive and Latin/Tribal sounds, and went with it. I weave between Techno and Tech House, back and forth a few times, and almost titled this mix “Electronic Weaver”. But because of the opening track and this mix being released during Coachella Weekend 2, “A Yuma Dream” was more fitting.

A YUMA DREAM - LIVE @ Monroe 3/26/17

“Pills Everywhere” is a mashup that d.Santis (@dsantismusic) and put together. It uses Eric Sneo’s (@ericsneo) amazing track “Fragmented” and the acapella of Erick Morillo’s & Harry Romero’s classic track “Dancin’ (I Got The Pills)”. If you’re not following Eric Sneo, be sure to do so now.
I originally did this mashup live at an event last summer, and it came out so good that I realized it needed to be done professionally and layered perfectly. I reached out to Mark Desantis aka d.Santis for his amazing production skills. He takes this mashup to a higher level than I imagined. “Pills, everywhere” was born.

Pills Everywhere - d.Santis & David Paul vs Eric Sneo (FREE WAV Download)

Before the year ends, I’m posting another mix for everyone. This is a live set from the Social AM afterhours in San Francisco. I titled this “DUI on the Fly” since I was definitely deejaying under the influence, more so than I prefer to be. On the fly, meaning I didn’t have any brand new tracks or have a playlist or even an idea of what I planned to do with my set, musically.

I ended up starting with Tech House and then moved to Techno (of course), but took it back down to Tech at the end, as I was the closing DJ. I followed my good friends Nilo & Laur who always put down great sets, as they are veteran DJs. The opening vocal of “Fine Day” is actually their closing track. It’s such a great classic vocal that I had to allow it to open my recorded set.

DUI on the Fly - Live @ Afterhours 11-25-17

Happy New Year! And thank you for tuning in to my first mix of 2018. This mix is titled “Sunday Morning Spins” based on one of my favorite tracks of the mix. This is a live recording from my set at Monroe on NYE, in San Francisco, which is SF’s weekly after-AFTER party, every Sunday morning, called After Dawn.

It was an honor to play the closing set for the last After Dawn party of the year. On top of that, I had the opportunity to follow some of San Francisco’s favorite DJs, J Casablanca, Halloran, and our Funky Teknomics DJ, Zara Mez. I was in a very Techno mood that week and had come across some amazing Techno tracks over the last week and month. And being that I did the closing set, I decided to bring and play some very melodic tracks, which you’ll hear in the second half of the mix. Though melodic, the Techno is still a very funky and pumpin’, not too different from what you might here at a closing Techno set at a festival. The transitions in my mix are a bit rough around the edges (5 hours of sleep in 3 days), but the tracks are so good that I had to post the mix. 

One of my favorite tracks, like I mentioned earlier, is titled Sunday Morning (Skream Remix) by Pirupa. I’ve been following both for years and knew just from seeing it that the track would be epic. When I heard this track, I knew I had to play it at a Sunday morning at Monroe. “Sunday morning I’m still spinning…” I waited months to play it, and there was no better time to play it than for the last track at Monroe for 2017. My other favorite track of the mix is a mashup that d.Santis (@dsantismusic ) (of our Funky Teknomics team) and I did using Ramon Bedoya’s (@deejayramonbedoya) re-edit of GrindHouse, originally by Dubfire. We added a couple sounds to it, but more importantly added some amazing vocals “Techno Vocals” by Marc Houle (@marchoule)… “Why are all the vocals pitched down so low? THIS is the way we make Techno!”

Here's another mashup that d.Santis ( @dsantismusic ) and I did. One of my currently favorite producers is Ramon Bedoya ( @deejayramonbedoya ). He remixed/edited Dubfire's remix of Grindhouse (Original by Radio Slave).

This mashup was inspired when Juan Beatz posted "Techno Vocals" by Marc Houle on Instagram. We twisted, chopped, looped, and laid the vocals/acapella of this track over Ramon's recent edit.

Being that it was at Monroe, it was another sleepless 24 hours by the time I got off the decks.

"Set On Fire" - Live at Monroe SF 7-8-18

This is a LIVE recording of 2 of my favorite SF DJs, and favorite Earth humans! I had the honor of putting the lineup together for this night, and I have had these 2 in mind for B2B for some time, and finally had the chance to bring them together.

This took place at one of SF's most consistent after-hours in SF, Bassment Sessions, located in SoMa. Bairfro aka Jason Fairbrother, and J-Kind are 2 VERY talented and experienced DJs and producers... so, needless to say, their B2B set (and solo sets) was amazing and epic. Bairfro B2B J-Kind - Live at the Bassment Sessions afterhours 7-21-19

Thank you for checking out my latest mashup. I put this together in May 2019 in celebration of my biggest and most honorable gig to date, supporting Richie Hawtin at Halcyon San Francisco on May 27th. I was gratified when my peers in my Funky Teknomics group said it was a great mashup, as well as from the nods I received during the track on the loud system, and the words I received after my set in regard to the track.

This mashup's musical side is from the Spanish producer who creates beautiful and soothing Tekno, Citizen Kain. When I first heard this track, I knew immediately that I wanted to play it at my birthday event at Halcyon in March of  2018. I played it a few more times in the following months and knew that one day I would move to making this into a mashup with complete respect and appreciation to Citizen Kain. It wasn't until November of that same year that I found the vocals that I wanted to cut and lay over Mr. Kain's "Mischief", when I was again at Halcyon for the Pan-Pot show I heard them play these classic House vocals over a banging Techno track.

The vocals almost need no introduction, except to those who are new to electronic music, post 2007, or who are not familiar with Jim Morrison of The Doors, circa 1970. For those that are in either of those categories, the vocals were sampled from "A Little Game" to make them even more timeless than they already were, by John Creamer & Stephane K to make a timeless House song, "Forget The World".

I have humbly made this mashup in full and utter respect and appreciation of the artists formerly mentioned, and because of that, I offer the wav file free for download.

Permission To Play - LIVE @ The Midway 7-4-19

This mix is my live recording from my set in Las Vegas on 2/8/20 for the Tempo Afterhours team. I’m dedicating this mix to my son Diego Prince, who has had a very rough start in 2020, starting off with the flu on January 2 or 3rd, and now with this COVID-19 lockdown that we are all going through. Though a relatively new DJ (since 2011), David Paul has had his heart deeply rooted in House & Techno music for much longer than that. David Paul always had a great ear for and flavor in House/Techno, and also always had the desire to share the music with others. Ever since his first time on the decks, he has been able to get the crowd's feet moving and hands in the air with his refreshing track selections. 

In a short period of time, David Paul has learned how to catch the attention and of the crowd every time he's on the decks. Having played at Coachella's Heineken Dome, after-hours at BPM in Playa del Carmen, Ruby Skye, Audio Discotech, Halcyon, The Great Northern, Monarch, Vessel, The Grand, Temple, Supperclub, Slide, The Cellar, Harlot, Monroe, The EndUp, A.W.O.L. in Cabo & Cancun, and having shared the decks with DJs including Richie Hawtin, Paco Osuna, Sander Kleinenberg, Oliver Huntemann, Art Department, Kaiserdisco, Umek, Klangkuenstler, Bart Skils, Christian Smith, Pig & Dan, Drunken Kong, Julia Govor, Ramiro Lopez, Prok & Fitch, Boris (NYC), The Junkies, Loco & Jam, DETLEF, Amtrac, Audiojack, Charles D, Sergio Fernandez, Cocodrills, My Digital Enemy, Dave Aude, EC Twins, LA Riots, Donald Glaude, Charles Feelgood, Chris Garcia, JJ Flores, David Garcia, Sex Panther, and many of the SF top House DJs, David Paul is well established to play for any crowd that truly loves Underground Music.

David Paul has also co-created Funky Teknomics Radio with partner Cris Zuniga. Funky Teknomics started as an internet radio show, created and hosted by Cristoffer Zuniga & David Paul, streaming live from Temple's radio studio/booth in early 2013. Quickly, Cristoffer and David Paul turned it into a series of monthly parties that moved to a different venue every month, titled Funky Teknomics' SF Tour. As a duo and collaboration, they have been able to take their music, gigs, positive vibes & love of underground music to places further than they first imagined. Currently, David Paul carries on the brand and music, along  with DJs Joey Moretti, Zara Mez, & d.Santis. 2 promoters/hosts are part of the Funky Teknomics team, Ginseng aka “Gino” Guzman, & Shaylene Fitzgerald. The Funky Teknomics sound spans from, and through Deep House, Tech House, Funky House, and Techno.
