SLEEPING MUSIC (Relaxing, Inspiring, Amazing) ♫ 🎹 ♫

a four track piano solo EP, marking various landscapes of perspective via a minimalist, cinematic sound aesthetic. my main inspiration and keyword for this album is interaction: how the human condition interacts (or doesn’t) with the clarity of nature: how two people can stare through each other in a coffee shop as if they don’t exist together; how the moment of clarity can be archived. I feel there is an architecture to a moment, and this project is my way of portraying interactions that I have either encountered with the world, or interactions that I have witnessed happening in-front of my eyes. with the artwork, an interaction is shown between the human and the sun: how the light is always keeping us warm, but we aren’t always fully present to feel it.

Coming in at just over two hours long (two hours and nine minutes to be precise) is the first part of the first "The Emporium Project" ... a collection of collaborations that span multiple genres but hold true to their central, uniting force ... Cousin Silas. 

On 1.1, Cousin Silas & his Friends bring to the table: longform ambient and unique sounds inspired by ska ... atmospheric soundscapes that use field recordings and tracks that feel like they were recorded in an out-of-the-way Blues club ... dark ambient eeriness and more percussive sounds. It is, without doubt, a varied set, one that will appeal to the curious and the adventurous in equal measure.

As mentioned above, this is the first part of the first Emporium Project ... you can expect four more parts in the coming days and weeks ... roughly ten hours in total and plenty to keep you occupied in the dark days of winter (in the Northern Hemisphere).

As before, we will use this series as an opportunity to give a little back to our wider community. All monies raised from the sale of this album will be donated to Hospice UK. I am both fortunate and grateful to work for an employer who actively matches all donations made ... so every purchase will be doubled for the benefit of a very worthy cause.

I really do hope you will enjoy this album as much as I have.

david ross lawn (b.1992) is an emerging composer and performer of contemporary vocal & instrumental music.  armed with a BMUS degree with honors in performance (university of aberdeen, scotland) and a MMUS degree in theory & composition (westminster choir college, princeton), david has received numerous awards, commissions & publications with his vocal & instrumental output.
david's solo piano work is represented and distributed by indie label Kning Disk, and has had notable features in national television & high fashion advertisement media. his debut piano EP 'songs of the sun' has received glowing reviews from a range of piano music critics. david's choral writings are published by GIA and Walton Music, and he often accepts commissions across various states to compose and create for various groups. art song composition is also a passion for david, and he has won various calls for scores and composed work that bridges a gap between legit musical theatre and contemporary art song. 
​as a performer, david holds distinctions in advanced certification ABRSM & trinity guildhall for oboe and piano performance. as a vocalist, david has been a featured solist and member of the grammy-nominated williamson voices, & the same stream singers. he regularly enjoys performing piano improvisations at art gallery openings and events around new jersey and beyond, & aims to blend the essence of mindfulness meditation into his piano work.
