All sounds are heard through the metal structure of the railing. Some light finger tapping on the rail reveals the low, gong-like resonance of the steel bars.

Yesterday I received a pair of Stille and Klang Block contact mics from David Stalling out of Ireland. Very very sensitive and quiet mics I must say.
I set out to do a few recordings close to home and one, and of my go to places is this cellphone tower in town. 
The "noise" you can hear, is actually electromagnetic hum from the servers, wires and whatnot... You can compare to the other recoding I posted that is trees from behind my house.

A 'remote haunting' created as part of a practice-based PhD 'KIllruddery: Listening to the Archive' at SMARTlab UCD, supported by the Irish Research Council. This particular haunting was conceived during the 'Time Travel' research project, courtesy of Creative Futures Academy at NCAD and IMMA. 

The exhibited version of this piece is installed in the grounds of the Killruddery estate as part of a geo-located sound trail 'The Ancestors'. The version heard here differs slightly from that.

Recorded the sound of the wind through the mast and the guy wires of a sunken and iced ship with a pair of diy contact mic's attached to it. The surface of the iced lake near the mast is recorded with another contact mic.
