The Shanti Planti collective is honored to present and showcase its third vibratory exhibition, Whitebear’s new EP, “Transmute | Release.” After much anticipation, this multifaceted musician is finally ready to unleash his second official release. Feast your ears on four supersensory sonic offerings, which were originally inspired by the extremely profound metamorphosis and pervasive life alteration that Whitebear has undergone and overcome, over the past year.

Within this resplendent release, we hear the distinct development and elemental evolution of Whitebear’s signature sound, as he experiments with tribal percussion, mind-expanding sound sculpting and earthshaking musical techniques. From the first note of the title song, it is evident that each tune has been imbued with a sense of higher purpose, to guide the listener to a state of centralized clarity, and ultimately, ensue equanimity. However, these tracks are just as powerful and hypnotizing, on the dance floor, as they are intellectually stimulating and spiritually uplifting. Forewarning, the bone-rattling bass and galactic glitches that underlie these psychedelic, auditory adventures will cause one to be enraptured, and dance until night begins to embrace light.

On songs such as Depth Charge, an indescribable amalgamation of Jazz and mid-tempo, broken beats is epitomized. A heaping dose of ivory tickling, from a Rhodes, assures the soulful sway to this unstoppable groove. We are also given a taste of fellow up-and-coming Australian producer, Auma, and his reinterpretation of “Depth Charge”, which seemingly takes on a more so upbeat and pulsating polyrhythm. As the song progresses, it melds marvelously into a dreamlike Dub aesthetic, and playfully augments and inverts the most significant component of the track, the bouncing keys.

This release also features a Whitebear remix of Tara Walsh’s song, “White Flag”, that tugs on the heart strings and contrasts the depth and darkness of ‘Transmute | Release” and “Depth Charge” with its heart activating, nostalgic vibrations.

Whitebear and Shanti Planti, are proud to share these endearing expressions, and hope they provide the darkness in which the listener is able to channel, harness and bring their own light into the shadows that are vital to our growth as spiritual beings.

This past summer, my wizardly eggplant audio-sorcerer alien friend from Australia dropped in to my home studio in Oakland, CA, fresh off the plane from some shows in Hong Kong. He was starting his mega-US tour so I let him crash for a few days before that started, as well as return the favor for taking me in on my first Australian trip. Naturally, we took to our sonic intuitions and wrote what is known as "Colloidal Drip", a tune that I have been playing out live all summer, into this winter, and is now being officially released on Bill's new full length album "Settling For Mediocrity" on SectionZ Records. It was an honor getting to be a part of the creative powerhouse that is The Glitch Mob. Having been friends for 15 years or so, and watching each of them progress over the years, it has been incredible to experience their triad of musical wizardry. My favorite part about this song is that we didn't end up with some hands-in-the-air banger, and instead it’s like this deep unicorn make-out track or something. Although I couldn't find the word in a dictionary, Justin informed us that “a paracosm is a detailed imaginary world created inside one's mind. This fantasy world may involve humans, animals, and things that exist in reality; or it may also contain entities that are entirely imaginary, alien, and otherworldly.” Perhaps the word is merely a paracosm in Justin's mind, but either way I hope there are unicorns there…

Some highlights include the movie Sold (Emma Thompson as exec producer), Lie to Me (FOX), Outsourced (NBC), Live with Kelly Ripa (ABC), ESPN2, Fox Sports, MTV, MTV2, Fuse, Showtime, HBO, EA sports, and a Right Guard commercial. His songs are featured on several music compilations including Sony, Lonely Planet, Red Bull, Craig’s List, and his song “Shout it Out” was in regular rotation at Starbucks. 

David has been producing music for meditation and psychedelic assisted therapy for many years. He's the music facilitator for high profile meditation retreats with the likes of Deepak Chopra, Robert Thurman, Richard Schwartz (IFS), Sunny Strasburg, Gita Vaid, and others. David worked with Phil Wolfson (MAPS researcher, The Ketamine Papers) on the K Dome virtual Burning Man Project. He helped to develop the TRIPP meditation phone app plus contributed music and was the main curator of the music content including well known names such as Moby, Ram Dass, Alan Watts, Desert Dwellers, Dirtwire and others.. In 2023, David released a highly acclaimed album with meditations by Ram Dass. He's also the head of music and sound at TRIPP VR, the #1 meditation platform in virtual reality. In 2020, David co-founded PsyAssist with Sunny Strasburg, a VR and Phone app that features music and guided meditation for psychedelic therapy.

David started his musical journey playing guitar at 8, then playing in the jazz band and marching band in high school. In his 20’s he was signed to various bands and eventually fell in love with the fusion of world music with EDM. He comes from a musical family in New Orleans. His grandfather Oscar Rouzan, was a well known jazz musician and his cousin, Wanda Rouzan, known as the “The sweetheart of New Orleans music”.
