Christmas has come early! As a December special, we are pleased to present you the first of two mixes this month from two incredibly talented artists. 

First up, HADŌ delivers a driving yet hypnotic and groovy listening experience featuring tracks from some of our favourite artists. It’s exactly what we love to hear and we hope you feel the same! The diverse track selection, smooth transitions and overall energy really makes this a special mix worth listening to. 

HADŌ is an Italian born, London based DJ/producer whose musical journey began around the age of ten with Latin American guitar and saw him experiment with a number of different genres and instruments before being drawn towards electronic music, as he got closer to the underground clubbing scene in London. His sets are an exploration of the primal and instinctive human connection with rhythm through a blend of intricate percussive soundscapes and nostalgic yet forward-thinking harmonies. 

As a relatively new face in the techno game, HADŌ’s productions have recently started to gain traction from big names such as Slam, Arnaud Le Texier, and Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann amongst others. Mathys threw down an all time set, shaking the walls and guiding the energy of the dancefloor throughout the night. This fourteenth episode of the Elata series features our very new resident, Taaris. 

Echoing from France, Taaris is a DJ and Producer deeply connected to the ancestral power of rhythm. She infuses hypnotic techno grooves into a shamanic sonic ritual, heartbeating the tribal patterns that have guided indigenous cultures for centuries. In a society where things trend to disconnect us from our essence, Taaris uses music as a unifying force. A storytelling with an clear intention of healing through frequencies. Her track "Forgotten Tribe" explicitely evokes mystical lens of shamanism immerses the listener in the experience of an Ayahuasca ceremony. Where sacred exhalations serve as purifying agents for the mind and body.

017 - DANYA

Danya is a Germany-based DJ, producer, and member of the 6D. collective with residencies at PAL (Hamburg) and Bunker Club (Kiel). Since her debut EP Self Destructive Mechanism (2023), she has released on labels such as Nyxii, Kluster, and Sine Space 7, with her first solo vinyl Sonata (2024) circulating in DJs’ record bags worldwide. She has performed across Europe in clubs such as Tresor (Berlin), Rex Club (Paris), and PAL (Hamburg). Beyond her music, she is engaged in neuroscience research, working at the crossroads of sound, perception, and the brain.

INTERVIEW
How do you balance your identity as a researcher and your identity as an artist — do they blend, or do you keep them separate worlds?

They definitely blend. My work in neuroscience constantly shapes how I think about sound, rhythm, and perception, and I can’t really separate that from what I do as an artist. I am now building a project where these worlds meet more explicitly. My vision is a platform or environment where neuroscience and sound art directly inform each other. That intersection is what excites me the most.

If someone listened to one of your sets or tracks with no context, what would you want them to feel or understand about you?

I’d want them to feel like there’s thought behind every sound, even if they don’t know the story. I try to make tracks that move and evolve, so that people can get lost in them. Even without context, it’s important to me that the music communicates some energy and emotion. I’d like people to sense curiosity and exploration. And ideally, to leave them a little inspired or reflective.

What do you wish the techno scene would talk about more openly?

I think we need to have a more honest conversation about the culture itself. The very culture that claims to empower us is still built on dynamics that endanger us. Harassment and abuse are still happening behind the scenes, and a lot of it gets quietly ignored. It’s time to question the framework we’ve accepted. I’d love to see us reset a little, put the community and the values back at the center, and open the door to more diverse and respectful voices.

The next chapter of our hereandthere podcast series comes from Uväll — the Tbilisi-based DJ and producer Irakli Bregvadze, known for his raw, driving sound rooted in deep, muscular rhythms. Always pushing the edge, he has released on labels such as Semantica, Hayes, FLOAT, Canticle, WSNWG, INGUMA, and OECUS, quickly establishing himself as a respected voice within Georgia’s scene.

Beyond his productions, Uväll is also the co-founder — together with Script — of FACTION, a self-organised party series and label created by a new wave of techno DJs and producers. Rooted in sonic exploration and collective momentum, FACTION has become a platform for emerging artists and a reflection of contemporary techno.

Uväll shares a mix recorded during his set at RSO Berlin for the Deestricted club night.

Stephen Disario has become a leading figure in Los Angeles’s techno scene with his signature style of moody, driving techno. Beyond his productions and DJ sets, he’s shaped the community through Cognition, the event brand he co-founded in 2017, and his work with LA’s premier sound company H2Audio. In 2023, he launched Conundrum Records, spotlighting both his own sound and that of like-minded artists.
