The guest of our next episode of the SHIFTING PODCAST is Steezy, a DJ originally from the Netherlands. Steezy was born and raised on the streets of Rotterdam, and from a very young age he spent a lot of time editing music and getting involved in the local music scene.
 Today he is based in Berlin, performing at various underground parties, as well as promoting his own events and developing a music label.
 In Steezy's music you can find a mixture of techno, electro, broken beats, as well as classic rave tracks, jungle and DnB.
 This is exactly the mix he has prepared for us, so let’s charge up and set off on an hour-long journey!

Sound and photography are her closest forms of expression. When choosing selection she tries to act according to her natural senses, the willingness to experiment and influence imagination. She is drawn to hypnotic sounds, piercing bass, versatile electro, acid, breakbeat and UK garage. Recently she is fascinated by tribal elements in music and uptempo drums.
In her photography practice she’s intrigued by the dialogue of what is obvious and what is hidden in terms of belonging to the world and depicting emotions.

For Joseph Kamaru (KMRU) a Nairobi-born Berlin-based sound artist, sound is a sensorial medium through which social, material and conceptual interpretations are manifested in his works. KMRU carries with him a repository of listening experiences from Nairobi and beyond expanding his sonic practices, bringing an awareness of surroundings through creative compositions, installations and performances. He has earned international acclaim from his performances and releases , at the Barbican, Berlin Atonal, Présences électronique, and releases on Editions Mego, Subtext, Seil Records. KMRU has carved out a serious and definitive space on the list of essential authors in ambient experimental music – one of the most prolific and innovative artists in his field.

Spurred on by the acuteness of current global events, we are raising our voices in solidarity with the oppressed, the tortured, the silenced, and the unheard. They are a horrific wake-up call that brutally brings the precarious situation on our planet to the fore. The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, and Israel’s collective punishment of Palestinian civilians are intolerable. On top of that, the military actions threaten the lives of the remaining hostages in the Gaza-Strip, and even more innocent people in Gaza.

Listening is shaped by ethics and politics and leads back to it.
Listening is directly linked to memory and identity.
