You ready for a mega flashback?! Here's my set from when I played with the mighty Above & Beyond in 2006 @ Circus Hollywood back when I was resident for Spundae. [Vinyl + CDJ set] Listening to the set brought back some really great memories :) Were any of you there? Was such an amazing time for trance and progressive trance back then, so many gems! My Above & Beyond #tbt from last week (http://instagram.com/p/fTq7EYl3zD/) is what inspired me to dig around for some more old-school goodies so when I found this, I knew I had to share it with you :) Hope you enjoy!

Twilo - It`s almost 10 years since I played my last set in the best club in the world. I’ve got so many good memories from that period. I played there every month for four and half years, and anybody who ever went to any one of those Twilo nights will remember it. Every single one was special, memorable. 
It was more intense than crazy, every month just seemed to get better and longer. I think the music that was around at Twilo suited that sound system and era, and now we are in a different era."

 America and clubland lost something very special when Twilo closed.

In the 90's, the best house music always came out of the gay clubs, so Gay Pride Weekend in NYC was a highlight of the year, especially at the legendary Twilo.  I was playing a bit more vocals that night and a little lighter as well. You know it's Pride when Cher ends up somewhere in the set! Enjoy!

Thee-O - Live at Spundae (05/12/12)

In 1997 i went together with Adam Beyer and Cari Lekebusch to play at the legendary Twilo club in New York. It was a hot summer and i was playing at the beginning of the night. This special techno party was going on until late in the morning and the techno hungry people was crowding together with the gay regulars. 
The DJ booth was nicely set up but not perfect for a techno DJ. The 1200 was sitting on soft springs making it very difficoult to cue and pitch the records without having the needle skipping. There was a UREI rotary mixer with only volume knobs, quiet different from the early techno mixers we used in europe, like the mighty Rodec. Instead, there was a large isolator with bass, mids and highs on the master channel. The sound guy caught me using it and he immediatly told me to stop using it "don't touch that, it's only for Danny [Tenaglia] !". 
I was happy to receive the first 30 min recorded to a cassette tape by a kind soul on Soundcloud. Twilo closed in may 2001 after problems with the authorities who cited expired certificates as a reason for closure.
