Cabezas’ new EP “Raya” is a distillation of the conversations that have shaped him over the last decade. From the Danceteria-ready sheen of “Madonna” to the nocturnal-italo pulse of “Sergio”, Cabezas covers a wide swath of sonic ground, starting in almost-familiar places and spiraling out into the unknown.
This is Cabezas’ second EP, following up his 2018 Börft Records release "Mi Calle".
Born in Chile and living in Sweden, Patricio Cabezas is a multi-talented musician/producer. After years as a touring bass player, he recommitted himself to electronic music, trading his pickups for a circuit board in search of the boundaries of sound.
Since childhood Cabezas has thrown himself into the in-between. With a life of hybrid timezones, cultures and identities, his approach to music is similarly liminal. Driven by discovery and experimentation, Cabezas hybridizes genres, themes and instrumenta- tion to create electronic music that lives on the edge, built for the mains, headphones and everywhere in between.

Occasionally, a record — or sometimes even a DJ — simply falls out of the sky, like so many unexplained showers of fish, or midnight deliveries of frozen piss from passing jumbo jets. And so it was when DJ Steve first came to our attention in 2011 via Tim Sweeney, who discovered him quite by chance DJing in the Italian seaside town of Tropea. 
Sweeney, on vacation in the area, was so impressed with Steve he passed him his card, telling him to call him if he ever made it to New York. Some time later, DJ Steve did make it to New York, called Sweeney and turned up at the Beats In Space studio, barely speaking any English but with a pile of “DJ Steve special cuts”, white labels and acetates, and laid down an extended mix - “Italian style!”. Then, nobody ever really heard from him again.
Fast forward to Berlin 2013, and the mix had become a staple at the after hours of a small group of friends, including Paramida, who would soon start Love On The Rocks. They called it “the DJ Steve experience”. Paramida counts it as one of her main musical inspirations, saying it showed her another perspective of groove, and turned her perception of dance music “upside down”. And still, nobody seemed to know who he was. speaking any English but with a pile of “DJ Steve special cuts”, white labels and acetates, and laid down an extended mix - “Italian style!”. Then, nobody ever really heard from him again.
Until one day in early 2016, after years of exhausting all her contacts in an effort to track him down, after all the blood, sweat and tears, and countless hours spent interrogating various dance music insiders, Paramida finally received a message. “Minkia, stu pezzu nci spunda u culu e passari!” Whatever that meant, it was instantly clear that her search had come to a conclusion. Despite the near-indecipherable dialect, and other obvious communication problems, Paramida somehow persuaded him to sign two of his “special cuts” for Love On The Rocks, which would soon become the record you now hold in your hands.
As DJ Steve had put it so well: “Dick! This thing could pierce the anus of a sparrow!”. Amen.

Lisbon's Jorge Caiado has crafted an intricate and deep EP on his own Carpet & Snares label. We have the exclusive on the EP's only remix, by Spanish talent Sergio Moreira.

S.Moreira’s remix draws upon the much-celebrated minimal aesthetic of his Slow Life peers, skilfully turning out a timeless house journey. Best enjoyed with attentive listening, this 8 minute production is house at its most functional, but also at its very best.

Kalita are honoured to release for the first time Emerson's mythical 1988 unreleased boogie masterpiece 'If You Need Me, Call Me', accompanied by extensive interview-based liner notes and never-before-seen photos.

'If You Need Me, Call Me' includes both the issue and unreleased demo versions of Emerson's extremely sought-after single 'Sending All My Love Out', originally privately released and distributed in 1988 in a run of just 500 copies on LAS Records.

Although 'Sending All My Love Out' arguably failed at the time to receive the recognition that it deserved, since release the single's desirability has increased exponentially, and is now highly sought-after by collectors and DJs alike who find themselves spending eye-watering prices to secure their own copy.

The musical product of the visionary couple Emerson and Leora Sandidge, 'If You Need Me, Call Me' is a personal collection of synthesizer and drum-machine-led boogie of the highest quality. Recorded over the space of just one week at Real To Reel Studios in Stockbridge, Georgia, Emerson and Leora intended to release 'If You Need Me, Call Me' as a follow up to 'Sending All My Love Out'. However, due to familial responsibilities and health complications the album was never released to the public, and the original master tapes have remained locked away until now.

In partnership with Emerson and Leora, we now think it high time to satisfy the demand and to share this masterpiece with the world.

Our latest Stan Radio mix comes from Amsterdam-based DJ and producer, Suzanne Kraft.

Born Diego Herrera, and raised in Los Angeles, the city home to dublab radio, where he hosted his own musically widescreen show for many years (whilst also working as the station’s creative director).

A multi-instrumentalist, formally trained on sax, guitar, bass, and keys, the man is a prolific producer with releases on labels such as Running Back, Melody As Truth, Noise In My Head, and Animals Dancing. He co-owns P&D Records with best mate and dublab host P Relief, and is also well-known for essential collaborative projects with Jonny Nash and D.K.  

We gave Diego an open brief when we reached out, having enjoyed productions and mixes spanning a wide range of genres over the years. We were super stoked that he chose a bit of an “Easy Rider” direction for this one. Music to kickstart the weekend, and definitely one for the rockers :)
