SYN Premiere: Nemoral - Wave Breaker [ARVA003]

SEXYRECS is a Berlin based label platforming a new wave of driving, pulsating techno. The vision sees each release shadowed by a mystic, dark sex appeal. SR001 is a 4-track EP and the genesis of SEXYRECS. The VA release is a solid embodiment of what the label stands for: a gradual descent from hypnotic, vocal cuts to rougher, poignant rhythms. Each track pleads for a lustful surrender.

The A-side opens with a deepened, looping finish. ‘Rubber Hands’ amps up the heat as blends of ominous, distorted percussive elements crawl into the sonic landscape. P.E.A.R.L. provides a suffocating, sweaty track with a nod to tribal. With the second track, Bailey Ibbs creates texture through layers of cryptic vocals and crunchy mid tones with a neatly produced groove track. ‘Lied To Laure’ offers a fresh perspective to hypnotic techno, combining a light approach with a darker aura.

Flipping to the B-side, powerful shapeshifitng, patterns of intense harmonies, spiral, twist rise and fall. Loren Kuehne’s paradoxically named ‘Less’ is the antithesis of its name as it enthralls you, leaving you begging for more. Continuing with a kaleidoscope of rhythm ‘The Beatbox’ slides in, framed with piercing bass-kicks and propelled with a dirty, forceful undercurrent of sound. FRAZI.ER masterfully orchestrates a melodically deep and razor-sharp peak time track.

Manchester-born DJ, producer and label boss, Cleric has been a prolific figure within the electronic dance landscape for fifteen years. With his label, Clergy, the Mancunian has strived to cultivate an aesthetic which mirrors that of his own musical principles. Always earnest in his conviction, Cleric has stayed staunch to the pacey, arresting techno that’s secured him his rightful place amongst the scene’s hardest of hitters.

To usher in the next decade, Cleric has announced a total of 10 VA’s to be released in 2025, each with 5 original tracks, and closing with a remix of a track from the label’s back catalogue from Cleric himself. The first VA titled ‘Alpha’ will drop on the 25th January.

“I've always tried to push boundaries on new projects and concepts. Instead of being a standard 4 track EP every time. For our 20th release we created "visions". An unreleased mix with no track-list that was launched with visuals over on HATE. Following the release of the mix, all the tracks then released on Clergy. This gave unknown artists a chance to rub shoulders with big names and people not pre-judging their music on profile size.” - Cleric

There are few artists carving out a legacy for themselves like Dax J is right now. The British DJ and producer from London has gone from the backroom parties to headlining raves at every major techno institution the world over, all whilst staying true to the underground with an individual style all of his own. His technical skill, pure selection as a DJ and attention to high-end sound production has placed him at the forefront of a global scene, and established him as a singular presence within modern dance music. 

Recent accolades for his unswerving devotion to his sound have included places in the top 100 DJs polls published by Resident Advisor, DJ Mag and Groove Magazine. Over the years, he’s also received nominations as Best Techno DJ, Best Breakthrough DJ and Best British DJ from Mixmag, DJ Mag and the DJ Awards. He's renowned for playing mammoth closing sets at monumental parties including 10-hour marathons in the world’s most notorious techno clubs, Berghain and Bassiani.

Also known as a prolific producer and successful record label boss, his trademark sound remains in constant rotation among the most respected DJs in dance music, a style which was first fully recognised on his highly acclaimed 2015 album, "Shades of Black". Upon its initial release on his own Monnom Black label, Mixmag named it "Album of the Month", Hardwax described it as “brilliantly banging” and it also took the coveted No.1 spot on Juno Records. 2018 saw Dax release his multi-faceted second solo album “Offending Public Morality”. The record won support across the board, including that of BBC Radio 1 who picked it as their “Biggest Record of the Week”. By the end of 2018, “Offending Public Morality” also featured in the “Top 50 Albums of the Year” lists for DJ Mag, Tsugi and Apocalypse Mag. Two more events that crowned a year of great success were his enrolment into the BBC hall of fame with the release of his debut Radio 1 Essential Mix, and Be.At.TV’s choice of his 4-hour closing set at NeoPop Festival for their “Best DJ set of the year”
