The hypnotic momentum of the night passes to the hands of DJ Three as light begins to fill sky and the new day creeps ever closer.  For forty breathless minutes we wait… until at last the sun breaks over the horizon, and a collage of verbal musings, psychedelia and ornate music fills the air.  Toying with echoes and teasing with nuance, shutters fluttering to capture the fleeting moment…a moment not soon forgotten for those who were lucky enough to be there, at sunrise on Sunday, Black Rock City, Burning Man, 2014.   And then, just as easily as we are led into that place, a whole movement of sound and energy returns the dance floor.

This week we have a very special mix, in fact, it's a mix we have been chasing for over two years!! Tara Brooks, live from the Market stage at Rainbow Serpent Festival 2018.

There is a line where the dark fuses with the light, the surreal with the sublime, the graceful with the powerful; it is within this line that Tara Brooks has carved out her truly distinct sound. Whether playing at an intimate club, a dark underground warehouse, a packed festival or a magical sunrise deep in the Burning Man Playa, Tara's music envelopes the crowd, stirring them with deep funky grooves, hypnotic & trippy rhythms, acidy deep techno, soulful, and haunting melodies. Behind the decks, her passion and love for music is contagious.

Struck by the power of the music and the loving vibe of the scene, Tara was destined to be a part of it. Learning on vinyl, Tara picked up her first record in 2007 and hasn't looked back since. With her unique sounds, loving energy and fierce work ethic leading the charge, Tara has played some of the most respected venues, both domestic and abroad including The BPM Festival (Mexico), Katerblau (Berlin) Sisyphos (Berlin), Blue Marlin (Ibiza) Acid Sundays (Ibiza), The Brooklyn Mirage (New York), Flash (DC) DNSOF (Miami), Lightning in a Bottle, Sound (Los Angeles), PublicWorks (SF) and of course a little place she calls Home, Burning Man.

When she's not touring, you can find Tara locked in the studio. Rather then focusing on genre or style, Tara is sonically inspired by personal experience and connection with her environment. 🗯🗯 With which clubs / collectives are you connected and what is the situation with you? 🗯🗯

I have a weekly Radioshow at Ibiza Sonica Radio, I am Artist at The Zoo Project in Ibiza, Telekollegen Berlin and Freiland Sommerfest, we all go through the same, all income gone till further notice. Everyone is trying to survive and trying to stay positive, searching for Plan B's. I think the most difficult part, besides the financial situation, which is existential, is the still unknown. Emotionally it's hard, but something beautiful occurred as well, which was the support within the crews, clubs, friends and the community. I felt understood and more safe within the chaos. Coming back to life with little steps, our next step in Ibiza will be to open the Airport in July.
