Ben Jamin is a Liverpool based DJ and producer with releases on labels such as Discoholics Anonymous, Too Slow To Disco, and most recent Cosmic Miracles EP on Hot Digits Music. This mix brings some exclusives and promos with a blend of his top ten disco records of the moment. Most weekends you can find him spinning his disco vibes in bars around Liverpool playing the best in downtempo and nu disco.

This weeks slice of Daydream Disco is brought to you by founder, Nathan Simpson. Nathan is the founder of Daydream Disco and has residencies at his local community radio station, Unmade Radio & with club night 'Discnotheque' in London. He's DJ'd across a number of venues such as Basing House, Orange Yard and can be found playing at a variety of venues on the south coast. Specialising in anything soulful, Nathan aspires to introduce his listeners to new music whilst ensuring the energy is always at its highest. 

This month his mix has been inspired by big vocals and huge piano chords, this one is for all the classic house heads. Looking to brighten up your mood? Get this one on your speakers!

Daydream Disco Mix Series - 007 - Nathan Simpson

'The Daydream Disco Mix Series' aims to bring you the best nudisco, soul, funk and house vibes to kick start your week. Each mix is made up of 10 of our favourites tracks at the moment. This week we bring you a DJ who has been on our radar for a little while and is part of the fantastic 'The Disco Express' record label, she is the uber talented - Tatiana!

Tatiana is an East-London based DJ, audio producer, and music journalist.

Her sound has a global influence, moving smoothly between nu-disco, jazz-tinged house, French disco-pop, and soulful dance, all underpinned by funky basslines to keep you moving on the dancefloor. She has played the likes of El Dorado Festival, Night Tales, E1, and Grow Hackney, rapidly making a name for herself on the East London disco scene, and is part of the team over at The Disco Express.

With a background in radio working as an in-house producer for Hoxton Radio, as well as hosting her own show, Tatiana has gone on to become one of the station’s resident DJs. As a journalist, she’s particularly interested in the intersection of music and technology, and has interviewed artists like Folamour and Max Cooper.

'The Daydream Disco Mix Series' aims to bring you the best nudisco, soul, funk and house vibes to kick start your week. Each mix is made up of 10 of our favourites tracks at the moment. This week we bring you the superbly knowledgeable, Sam Shelley. This one isn't to be missed people!

Sam Shelley is a Music Producer & DJ based in London focusing mainly on the Disco genre. He has loved music from a very young age and started producing in 2011. In 2015, he moved into full time music production. His first musical interaction in life was with the dance genre, as a child growing up he was influenced by his Mothers Disco collection. 

Sam loves playing tracks from the Disco, Nu Disco, Boogie, Funk, Jazz-funk, Brit-funk & Soul genres, his favourite artists include people like Chic, who has influenced a lot of the sounds you hear in his productions today. 

Sam has DJ’d at various big London locations including: White City House, Folklore, The Looking Class Cocktail Club, Ministry Of Sound, Egg, Lightbox and The Scotch Of St James. Over the Summer of 2017 he did some gigs in Ibiza at Itaca, Ibiza Rocks Cafe and Pure nightclub. He also hosts his own weekly show on NDC Radio every Sunday afternoon 2pm till 4pm. As you can gather from reading, Sam lives, eats and sleeps music.

Hailing from East London, Clint H aka Clint Hards love for music and the DJ scene has been constant and unbroken since an early age. 

He fell in love with the DJ/nightlife scene when he first visited the famous white isle (Ibiza) As soon as he got back he decided to buy a pair of technics 1210's and spent the following years building up a collection of music and knowledge of various genres.

Clint has played in a number of venues in London in his surrounding areas and is currently a resident with the Alchemist bar chain. He is also currently playing at the world famous Sushi Samba, Heron Tower in Bishopgate where he has spent the last year as resident for one of the disco scenes most influential people Moodena, and his monthly Moodena Presents event.

He has been lucky to share the DJ booth with some of the scenes big hitters such as CJ Mackintosh, Dave Lee, Young Pulse, Birdee, Javi Frias and the late, great Mighty Mouse.

Clint's musical style is based on a blend of Disco, Nu Disco, Soul Funk Disco and Soulful House.

Clint also has his weekly Beats @ Brunch radio show on one of London's leading dance music stations Shine 879.

His guest mix delivers a mixture of fine vocals, full on funk and uplifting disco heat!

This is definitely one for all you disco heads out there!!

Daydream Disco Mix Series - 011 - Clint H

After learning his trade playing vinyl in the late 90's at free-parties and selected clubs across wales and the south-west, George Penny aka George G-Force has come out of retirement and ready to bring the heat with a unique blend of disco and house vibes.

George regularly plays at some of the coolest cocktail bars in the South West including The Alchemist, Revolution, AllBarOne, Sub13, Walcot House/LOMAH, The Gold Bar, The Common Room, and StayOriginal venues for SelectDJ’s and Genre Music agencies.

He's also been making a name for himself on the festival scene with appearances at Latitude, Wilderness, Shindig and LakeFest as well as residencies for 'FunkyTown' (Disco), 'Getting Jiggy' (House) in addition to 'SATISFUNKTION & Funky Sensation' club-nights promoted by himself with the ethos of trying to bring the fun back into clubbing with good old uplifting, hands in the air music!

In 2022 he's gone international with a guest appearance at YekeYeke an established house music night curated by CN Williams hosted at the decadent OPM Bar at the DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton situated in the Jumeirah Beach Resort in Dubai.

More recently with Covid restrictions George has also played numerous live-stream events and online radio shows and recently was runner-up in a national DJ competition for New World Festival against hundreds of entrants and has submitted guest mixes for BBC Radio Bristol.

Only 18 years old, N0ah shows a huge talent for track selection and musical knowledge. Having recently moved down to London to study music, N0ah has already made moves on making connections throughout the London disco scene, having come off the back of his own night at a local record store and sessions at RVM studios we were keen to showcase N0ahs talent. He's influenced heavily by groovy drums, jazzy chords and soulful vocals; "To me these tracks really show that and capture the essence of the old school house and disco vibe."

Mango Boom has always been a huge fan of disco, funky house and soulful grooves. After spending many years making endless mix tapes, playlists and selecting the songs for friends’ parties, she started experimenting with mixing three years ago as something to pass the time during lockdown and never looked back. Originally from Newcastle upon Tyne, U.K., she has lived in Sri Lanka for over six years and has partnered with two other island based DJs, forming one half of the Dirty Disco Project with Wendell Theile (SL), as well as hosting parties and events as one half of Funkyard with DJ Kevin Fernando (UK). Her energetic, vocal driven tracks mixed with well loved disco classics get the dancefloor started and she plays regularly in the clubs and bars of Colombo, as well as on the tropical south coast.

Each mix is made up of 10 of our guests favourites tracks of the moment. For this round of the ‘DDD Mix Series’ we are thrilled to be welcoming fellow south-coaster - FunkSupply.

Based on the South Coast of England just outside Portsmouth, FunkSupply started to experiment with mixing during lockdown after watching Folamour’s Boiler Room set. He has a variety of mixes influenced by his passion for disco and house music. “I’m just having a good time and playing music that makes people feel good!” 

FunkSupply has recently played sets on Brixton Radio and frequently plays in bars in/around the Portsmouth area. If you are down on the coast he sure to check him out!

Almost Famous is a Berlin based DJ. Growing up with 90s hip hop, he gradually found his way to house and disco music through funk and soul. While he always had a passion for sharing music and collecting records, he started DJing only a few years back. 

What started as a gig for fun at a friend’s birthday party slowly but surely developed into a real passion for mixing music on a regular basis. Together with a couple of friends, Almost Famous organizes and hosts ‘Not In My House’ and ‘Disko, No Disko’, both recurring club nights at Humboldthain Club in Berlin.

Straight from the 80s, bringing the Disco & House tunes back on the dance floors. Pack your funky shirts and get ready! Still not a star, but Almost Famous.

DJ Emma is a DJ, producer and broadcaster from Wiltshire with a passion for Soul, Funk, Boogie, Disco and House Music. She has performed at many of the UK festivals including Glastonbury, Creamfields, Camp Bestival, Wilderness, Shindig and was asked this summer by Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy to do a special ‘Balearic Breakfast’ set at We Out Here Festival in her iconic ‘Love Dancin’ tent.  

She is a regular warm-up choice for Craig Charles on his Funk and Soul Club tour across the South West of the UK including London and Bristol.

She’s also supported the likes of Huey Morgan from BBC 6 Music, Crazy P, Groove Armada and Mousse T and has recently played alongside Kirollus, Micheal Gray, Cody Currie at Bristol Disco Festival.

Late Night Disco is a DJ duo based in Hackney, London. For the past 8 years, they have been filling dance floors up and down the country, bringing their love for disco and feel-good funk-filled edits whilst supporting headline acts such as Dave Lee, Dr Packer & Dimitri from Paris.

Over the last 8 years, Late Night Disco have established themselves as a leader in playing the perfect disco edits in the capital. From DJ sets all over,  festivals up and down the country, to their own conffeti filled club nights, they have teamed up with some of the biggest names. One thing is for sure, the dancefloor will be full and the good times will be flowing.

This month we bring you a special selection from a DJ that will be making his debut under the DDD guise at Number 90 Bar on 25th August - Ryan Oliver.

Hailing from South East London, Ryan Oliver has been meticulously building a library of sounds fit for dancefloor's all over London's vibrant Disco scene such as Brixton Jamm, Corsica Studios, Orange Yard Soho and Number 90.

Heavily influenced but not limited to disco, Ryan's constant search for 'that sound' has culminated in a series of seasonal mixes known as the 'Beat Initiative'. Each mix bringing new flavours and old favourites to the table leading you infectuously, to move.

Reece is a Yorkshire born; Cornwall based house music DJ and producer who has been making music since 2007. 2023 is looking busy for Reece with releases on some prolific labels in the house and disco scene, a continued residency in Plymouth and festival gigs to look forward to! Reece's previous releases have been played and supported by Mousse T, Dave Lee (FKA Joey Negro), Dan Shake, Artwork - which landed his first Radio 1 play - and Phil Weeks to name a few.

'The Daydream Disco Mix Series' brings you the best disco, soul, funk and house vibes from artists both established and upcoming. Each mix is made up of our guests favourites tracks of the moment. This month we are super proud to be able to bring you the absolute beast that is Moodena!

Moodena’s success over the last five years has been nothing short of prodigious. His meteoric rise to being ever present at the pinnacle of both the disco & Nu Disco charts has seen him become one of the most in demand DJ/ producers across the globe. 

Crowned Number 1 Nu Disco Artist of the Year two years in a row and a string of number 1 selling singles under his belt has also seen him become hugely sought after as a remixer with recent stand out remixes for Dave Lee on Z Records, Rhyze and John Davis, both on legendary New York label Nervous, ‘The Destroyer’ for Soul Central, and Bellaire’s ‘Sunset Ballad’.

Despite such impressive studio prowess Moodena is perhaps most at home in the DJ booth, seamlessly combining everything from Disco and US Garage to house and Techno. His ability to fully connect with the crowd have seen him play everywhere from Elrow’s Festival in Croatia to Printworks in London to Soho House in Rome and Istanbul, Curfew Festival in Belgium and Heidegluhen in Berlin, one of the globes quintessential underground tastemaker clubs. He has also toured extensively in Mexico and toured India for the first time in October 2023.  

His stand-out Moodena Presents nights has become a London staple booking legends and upstarts alike, including Dave Lee (AKA Joey Negro), The Shapeshifters, Kirollus, Young Pulse, Ray Mang, Mighty Mouse (RIP), CJ Mackintosh, Art of Tones to name a few. With Moodena currently back in the studio working his magic on a fresh batch of disco classics and multiple international tours already confirmed it’s safe to say that his success will continue for many years to come.

Daydream Disco Mix Series - 022 - Moodena

Meet Nicola Mannini, an Italian-born DJ now soaking up the beats in the vibrant streets of London.
Back in 2000, at the tender age of 15, he dove into the world behind the decks, inspired by the vibes of the '70s and '80s - thanks to the tunes his parents spun on an old turntable during his childhood.

Fuelled by this passion, Nicola had the privilege of starting by spinning tracks at fashion events and catwalks - the perfect backdrop for those vibes.

Along his journey, he had the honour of sharing stages with some notable names and curating events that were memorable.
Now, at the age of 38, Nicola is not slowing down; instead, he's curious to see where the music takes him next, in the city he proudly calls home.

Last July, he dropped his debut single, "Up All Night," available on all major platforms.

Catch him spinning every first Sunday of the month on @blooplondon from 14:00 to 15:00, and every second Sunday on @aajamusic from 14:00 to 16:00.

Welcome to Daydream Disco! 

We are a collective of DJs, founded by Nathan Simpson, based across London and the south east and we love anything involving house, funk, disco and soul music. We delve into the past, present and future to bring you some of our favourite tunes, to help spread a little joy!
