Born and raised on a small farm in southern Alberta, GingerBear continues his musical journey from classical singer, violinist, pianist to DJ. Having spent much of his young life performing, his love to entertain others meant finding his way back to the stage and onto the DJ decks with a constantly evolving sound that that says electronic music with cheeky dark side.

GingerBear started out as a classical multi-disciplinary musician as a kid then moved on to event promotion and design for almost 20 years before his transition to being a DJ. The events he put on were fun, quirky, dirty and varied, much of which has formed his style of music today that he likes to call retro-tech, a mixture of techno, tech, house, disco, progressive, electro and retro 70/80/90s.

Based in Vancouver BC, GingerBear has played his retro-tech style at a variety of venues and events in the local and international scenes, including Calgary, Edmonton, Seattle, San Diego, Hawaii and San Francisco for events such as RUFF, Bearacchus, Bear Night San Diego, Beef, Pre-Lubed Folsom, to name a few. This summer’s bookings are looking great with more national and international bookings including Portland, Seattle Pride, Calgary Bearacchus Weekend with more to be announced.

So far, GingerBear has managed to hold his own on stage with some local and international talents like Hercules and Love Affair, Hector Fonseca, Karsten Sollors and more. His recent live techno mash of Todrick Hall & RuPaul’s “Dem Beats” has been getting passed around the DJ community and played on dance floors all over with support from Matt Consola, Jesus Pelayo and others. 

Enjoying the varied and creative music scene, GingerBear’s plans to takeover internationally with his fun and filthy style proving you don’t have to take things so seriously to have a good time dancing. Music and dancing is about connection and expression, so dance with each other, not just the DJ. Oh yeah, and hire me.
