The Icelandic house output 66 degrees are at it again with a compilation of local house anthems.
It begins with Sequential Dub by Ozy. As the name suggests, it’s dubby , deep and groovy. It first saw release on Ben Sims’s label Native back in 2002, but now is finally again available on plastic. It is followed by Pipeline by Sanasol. It’s a dark and hard-hitting postmidnight anthem. Well designed to create a havoc on the dancefloor. On the flipside we have Atomox by OZ Artists, an atomic tech- house with atmospheric chords and vocal samples. It’s a perfect after-hours house anthem.Lastly, we have Cherry Bon Bon by the local misfit Terry Cummingz. It’s an ode to the 90s classic Chicago house anthems. It’s soulful and hypnotic a travel back to more simpler times.
This is the thirteenth release on 66 degrees, which has returned from a 20-year hiatus and is this the second release within a short period 
of time – hopefully an indicator that the label is back with a vengeance.

With the latest release on Thule Records the audience is reacquainted with Waage, an Icelandic producer who is already became a force to reckon with within the dub techno community. Along him is a new and fresh tallend name: Quantal – a name to be remember in the near future.
The tracks, comfortably named WM1 to WM4, are repetitive and groovy – a mantra for the braindancers and useful tool for the late-night DJs. WM1 challenges the listeners with its high pitch perc, yet manages to maintain an interesting groove throughout. WM2 is an wide and airy dub techno extravaganza. It slowly drags the listener in like a fisherman with a 10 pound trout. Reels you in slowly and efficiently – and before you know it, you’re being held tightly in the bosom of Waage and Quantal.
The flipside begins with WM3 – steady dub techno beat with atmospheric pads. The chords slowly crawl in, and layers gradually appear from the deep. Finally WM4 brings it home with a heavy-hitting kick, enigmatic chord structures and synchronized breath of an unfamiliar humanoid. Overall, the release is dark and meditative. It works for both the dancefloor and the mind.

can be perceived as representing the seasons succeeding
and fulfilling inexhaustibly the natural cycles of creation
and destruction, one after the other, guided by the
elements and their vital force.

With Seeds, Ohm opens up the record with warm chords
and a steady groove suspended in the heavy atmosphere
of a summer day.

GIacomo Pellegrino then invites the listener to follow the
summer sun fading out to make space for regeneration. A deep
repetitive, classic Dub Techno piece hosts Autumn at the end of
Aside.

AGP (Anthony Georges Patrice) brings along the flipside Revenge
Is A Tool For The Weak, as a way to let the power of forgiveness
develop under the ice, as the cymbals start counting down
the time left before the Sun shines again.

Alessandro Crimi closes the record with an epic, highly emotional
majestically simplified piece of Deep Dub to which springtime
itself will not resist to come over for the start of
a new natural cycle.
