Is dark funky back? Kaval is working hard to revive this more or less forgotten genre.

In contrast to the enthusiastic nature of most of the tracks in the main UK Funky genre, the darker sub-genre has a much more ominous atmosphere and more minimalist rhythms. Sometimes very Uk funky, sometimes close to grime, Uk techno, early dubstep or even hard drum. It's this side that I wanted to revive by concocting these tracks at different tempos.

Always using my usual process: MPC, Samples, Ragga-Dancehall vocals, Drums , texture & video game sfx!

A born and raised Montrealer steeped in the sounds of East Coast and Midwest club music, @miamotoworld has found a home in London's blooming footwork scene, notably at @after.werks, a monthly get together for dancers and DJs alike taking place every month at AAJA Basement.

A fan of all things 160, there is nothing Mia loves more than to tear dance floors with high-energy sounds from across the pond and beyond. In her mixes however, Mia takes a more introspective path. While anchored in her signature 160 BPM sound, she weaves in elements of ambient, dubstep, breaks, and the likes seamlessly, blending sounds from her past and present into a reflective sonic diary.
