D.D. Curry is a London-based dance music producer/DJ who came up in the NYC scene before relocating to the UK in 2022. He co-owns the club-focused Brooklyn label Fortune Signal as well as his own eclectic dance label Working Rhythms.

Fresh off his solo debut, ‘Resolve EP’ for Y4 Collective last Fall, Fortune Signal co-founder D.D. Curry returns to home base to drop a pair of club-tested, jackin’ singles.

‘How I Roll’ is a subby speed garage inspired groover, cheekily built around a friend’s colorful drunken voicemail.

On ‘You Got This,’ ghostly vocal samples cast an afterhours shade on a 2-step UKG-inspired soundscape. D.D.’s own voice cuts through the haze with his positive declaration that you, indeed, got this.

With both tracks, D.D. Curry offers a fond tribute to influences like classic dub reggae and UK garage, filtered through his unique lens and informed by seminal U.S. house traditions.

‘Curry’s House with D.D.Curry’ is a new 2-hour dance music program on Voices At Night that combines DJ sets and guest interviews. The London-via-Brooklyn host is a DJ, producer and co-founder of electronic labels @fortunesignal and @workingrhythms. Each month, Curry will invite a guest DJ to provide a 1-hour set and have a lively conversation about songs that influenced them. In this month’s installment, Curry’s mix draws from classic house styles and includes a number of the latest releases in the scene. He’s joined by beloved NYC-based Canadian DJ/producer @heidyp, who discusses her musical roots, world travels, joining the @xoxanyc collective, and upcoming vinyl release with Detroit label Rocksteady Disco. She brings her inimitable house stylings to craft a delightful one-hour guest mix.

Based in London with frequent visits to his old Brooklyn haunts, Curry loves to rock parties in a style informed by classic American house and techno, UK garage, and textural leftfield sounds (with the occasional yacht rock or soul cut thrown in). As co-founder of the Fortune Signal label, he’s dedicated to supporting new voices and underground labels from around the world.

Curry's House w/ Kyle Louis 24/02/25 - [Voices Radio]

“Distant Shores” is a dreamy, saxophone-drenched house track oozing with balearic atmosphere, subtle breaks, and smooth synth bass. The production is a collaboration between New York house veteran Kyle Louis and Working Rhythms Records boss D.D. Curry, now based in London. They originally met in Brooklyn when Louis moved into the apartment upstairs from Curry's and bonded over the records Curry could hear through his ceiling. The pair is joined by another longtime friend, UK-via-NYC producer/DJ Panooc, who’s lent their conservatory-trained jazz sax skills to perfectly compliment the vibe.

Louis recalls, “It started off with D.D. sending me some Rhodes, bass and Panooc’s sax parts. Within a few hours, I had a mostly fleshed out track - chopping up those samples, adding a little break beat, some chunky drums and a couple new synths. I wanted it to be funky, emotional and a bit aggressive all at the same time. The title comes from Devin and I now being on separate shores after sharing Brooklyn for so long - now Brooklyn and London.”

This month, Quantreau stops by the House to fill in for D.D. Curry during the host’s absence. Quantreau is a Brooklyn-based DJ, producer, and co-founder of the up-and-coming dance label Fortune Signal.

Originally hailing from Denver, Colorado, Quantreau is an active member of NYC’s dance music underground scene. This 2-hour mix features his energetic, eclectic and sub-heavy vision for contemporary club music, including a sneak peak at tracks from the upcoming Fortune Signal v/a compilation, Visions.

Fortune Signal started as four friends with a shared obsession for dance music and a desire to carve out a niche that reflected our sensibilities. No big industry connects or main stage clout, just grit and passion.

The shape of the label has always morphed to occupy the space where our individual tastes overlap. Three years, fifteen releases, and many late nights later, the edges of that shape have come into sharper focus. "Visions" is our clearest statement yet, and a signpost for where we’re headed.

These tracks represent our renewed musical vision for the future: discerning and contemporary production that sidesteps obvious tropes, restrained when it needs to be, powerful when it counts, a little off-kilter, but always with a firm grip on the groove. High-functioning club cuts from some of the most exciting producers in our orbit.

"Visions" brings together new friends and old from our extended family across the US and UK. Some have released with us before. Some have played at our parties. Some are producers who we've been keeping an eye on and waiting for the stars to align. They're all artists we feel share our commitment to pushing forward-thinking dance music in a landscape that often defaults to the familiar.
