The Give Some EP is a collaboration between veteran Scottish producer @panooc_music (they/them) and California-born, NYC-based @dd_curry (he/him), two solo artists who originally met in the Brooklyn underground scene. Early on during the lockdowns, the friends embarked on this project as a way to find creative release, stay in touch, and maintain a connection through the dance music they love. They arrived upon a bass-driven, nostalgic house sound that could transport them back to the club but also help them process the melancholy of isolation. What has resulted are three original tracks that are simultaneously bouncy yet introspective, along with a funky remix by emerging NYC artist Devoye. The EP has already earned early support from rising star Logic1000 in her Mixmag Cover Mix and UK scene veteran Ben Gomori on his Turned On podcast. 

Funky yet mysterious, lead track "Going Up" features atmospheric keys and otherworldly vocals over a persistent Chicago-inspired bassline that holds down the vibe. This deep mover provides a message of optimism during tough times and an opportunity for catharsis on the dancefloor.

Next, “Give Some” provides an insistent, rolling groove that combines with punchy synth stabs and a curious ambience for powerful dancefloor possibilities. Panooc’s jazz training shines through in the breakdown’s complex chord progressions that nonetheless stay focused squarely on the club.

Pulsating bass squelches and ferocious micro samples propel the leftfield banger "Wyckoff", named after a street in the Bushwick area where Panooc and Curry used to be neighbors. While the four-to-the-floor beat holds down the main rhythm, the track also features moments of broken beats that take the hook in a surprising direction.

Rounding out the EP is the club-ready remix of “Going Up” by rising artist Devoye. A beloved DJ in the Brooklyn scene, the Boiler Room alum lends his production talents and spoken word vocals to a classic house heater in the tradition of Mike Dunn. His party-igniting take will fit in nicely into any proper house set.

The Give Some EP started off as a project between physically distant friends with hopes of better days ahead. This EP will be followed by the pair’s respective solo releases later this year, and the artists look forward to teaming up again in the very near future.

From the coziest speakeasy bars to the tastiest late night sandwich counters, New York City is full of delightful secrets that reward those lucky enough to find them. One of Brooklyn’s best kept secrets is Kyle Louis (fka KLM), a talented yet unassuming veteran of the underground house scene who now makes his debut with the Run It Back EP. The third Fortune Signal label release features Louis’s impeccable original productions, in which he explores a variety of emotions, rhythms, and times of the night. Classic synths, ethereal vocal chops, and subtle dubby effects provide an overall sense of cohesion throughout. The end product is a collection of fresh, contemporary compositions rooted in classic house music language, each track full of the potential to inspire transcendent dancefloor moments.

“Piano Speed Trap” is the peak time banger of the EP, powered by a pumping house groove and held together by insistent piano chords and wordlessly yearning vocal samples; the EP’s first single is tastefully restrained yet fully equipped for proper dancefloor damage. The subbiest tune of the bunch, “Run It Back” slots in perfectly during the early part of the night. It’s guided by a pulsating bass line and filtered synth stabs that underscore a mesmerizing, otherworldly lead. “Further” is a laid-back groover. The track builds energy with crisp live drum samples interplaying with atmospheric textures, and the whimsical synth melody draws inspiration from blog house-era indie bands. “Should I Go?” begins with classic garage house drums before switching to a broken beat and an echoing, hypnotic arpeggio. Louis then brings the track to its apex with an ecstatic four-to-the-floor groove accentuated by reverberant synth pads. On remix duties is Will Buck, a producer, DJ, and label boss well-known in the NYC and Miami dance music communities, with releases on such labels as Shall Not Fade, Pleasant Systems, and Whiskey Disco. Buck flips “Should I Go?” into a down and dirty house banger that’s driven by a forceful breakbeat and punctuated with a sinister rhodes melody.

Run It Back is a culmination of Kyle Louis’s years spent both in the club and the studio. Louis spent nearly a decade DJing and throwing parties in NYC, sharing stages with the likes of Tom Noble, Jacques Renault, and Juan MacLean before taking a break to refocus his energy on production. His past disco edits, beloved by the DJs fortunate enough to get their hands on them, have given him an innate understanding of dance music fundamentals. These experiences have served as the foundation for Kyle Louis’s creative voice as he ushers in this exciting new chapter of his understated but vital musical journey.

After an impressive string of self-released music, NYC label Fortune Signal welcomes DJ Burrito Boy for his Doomsday Ravebot EP. Taking sonic inspiration from LA’s dusty warehouse parties and 90’s rave sounds, the EP includes five dancefloor-ready cuts full of 909 drums, quirky, cut up vocals, and infectious basslines. Tokyo’s Guchon, the Sabacan Records boss, comes through with a remix of “RAVEBOT 3000,” flipping it into a peak-time driver that rounds off the floor-filling release with flair.

Early supporters of the release include DJ Seinfeld - who highlighted “Hot Pink Stinger Missile” in his March appearance on The Lot Radio - Fatboy Slim, Skream, Alinka, Horse Meat Disco, and NIKS.

Multifaceted musical artist Pru Fiddy joins the Fortune Signal roster with a soaring house release. On the Time Is Now EP, musical artist Pru Fiddy showcases her piano prowess with soulful, uplifting chords at the fore. The title track’s keys are augmented by a meandering bassline and lush pads that form the stage for her rich vocals.  The lyrical refrain, reflecting on the importance of letting go of past experiences to make way for growth, harkens back to her old-school house roots. 

The title track gets a remix from Lisbon-via-New York producer Malik Hendricks, who has made waves this year with his ‘Praise’ EP on Off Track Recordings, which was heard in Heléna Star’s Boiler Room London set. Hendricks’ delivers a deep and driving treatment that transforms the original track’s chords and vocals into a pumping moment of dancefloor bliss, drawing out perfectly the nod to early rave that sets the tone of the track.

‘Curry’s House with D.D.Curry’ is a 2-hour dance music program on Voices At Night that combines DJ sets with guest interviews. The London-via-Brooklyn host is a DJ, producer and co-founder of electronic labels Fortune Signal and Working Rhythms Records. Each month, Curry will invite a guest DJ to provide a 1-hour set and have a lively conversation about songs that influenced them. In his mix for this month, Curry provides an energetic blend of house, UKG and rave sounds from around the world, with an emphasis on UK talent. He’s joined by Glasgow-based Dan be, a Spanish producer, DJ and co-owner of the Y4 Collective label, who discusses his disciplined approach to creating tracks, as well as his label’s curatorial process as it nears its 4th anniversary. Dan also contributes a clubby guest mix consisting of dancefloor-focused house, garage and breakbeats.

Following up Fortune Signal’s debut release “Give Some,” Panooc / @panooc_music (they/them) returns for the label’s 8th release to date with the “Make It Real” EP. The Scottish producer and DJ offers up three high-energy original tracks alongside a peak-time remix from fellow UK producer and Kouncil Kuts boss Mark Mackenzie.

Throughout the EP, Panooc takes an adventurous approach to fuse their influences that celebrate nostalgia and the future, like on the title track ‘Make It Real,’ which kicks things off with smooth deep house chords and an acid bassline that nod to early classics. Energetic vocal chops and melodic sampling show their love for the sounds of the contemporary queer underground.

‘Same Origin’ quickly shakes things up with spirited rave-inspired breaks and a heavy pulsing bassline that makes it impossible not to start moving.

Meant to channel the surreal feelings of a dream, the soaring emotional chords and rolling sinister bassline of ‘Exits’  strike a perfect balance for early AM warehouse moments.

Mark Mackenzie flips the title track on its head for a pulsing, peak-time version made for big rooms and festival fields with more early rave-inspired flourishes.

Panooc, a member of the renowned queer collective XOXA, has also had recent releases with Sorry Records, .WAVCAVE, Delusional Records, and Super Drama.

Subtle Radio resident J-Man makes his debut on Fortune Signal with the ‘Cut 2 Size’ EP this June, following music on labels like Taipan Trax and 2-DeltaDelta. The title track, 'Cut 2 Size,' is a bright cut with old-school vocals and a filtered dark-edge bassline, while bubbly synths add colour and soul. It’s followed by 'Sequence', which brings plenty of groove via its lively, high-speed rhythms shot through with flashy neon arps.

Remixing J-Man’s ‘Cut 2 Size’ EP first is Faux Poly label co-founder Danvers, one half of Kassian, who’s released on prominent labels like Heist Recordings, Phonica, Groovence, and K7 Records. His version of 'Cut 2 Size' warps the low ends and chops up the vocal, turning the track into a moody party starter. The second remix comes from Brooklyn-based Fortune Signal co-founder Quantreau, who debuted on the label in the summer of last year. Here, he flips 'Sequence' into a punchy broken beat gem with myriad different synth sounds and textures, all adding captivating machine soul.

Fortune Signal started as four friends with a shared obsession for dance music and a desire to carve out a niche that reflected our sensibilities. No big industry connects or main stage clout, just grit and passion.

The shape of the label has always morphed to occupy the space where our individual tastes overlap. Three years, fifteen releases, and many late nights later, the edges of that shape have come into sharper focus. "Visions" is our clearest statement yet, and a signpost for where we’re headed.

These tracks represent our renewed musical vision for the future: discerning and contemporary production that sidesteps obvious tropes, restrained when it needs to be, powerful when it counts, a little off-kilter, but always with a firm grip on the groove. High-functioning club cuts from some of the most exciting producers in our orbit.

"Visions" brings together new friends and old from our extended family across the US and UK. Some have released with us before. Some have played at our parties. Some are producers who we've been keeping an eye on and waiting for the stars to align. They're all artists we feel share our commitment to pushing forward-thinking dance music in a landscape that often defaults to the familiar.

SIGNAL SESSIONS 006: Midnight Manoeuvres

Four years deep into his residency at Chicago's SubT club, KEEFE has been perfecting his approach to club music from the ground up. On The Joint EP, KEEFE’s Fortune Signal debut, the aim is simple and honest: fast, high-impact house tracks that earn their space on USBs and move rooms without fuss. It’s a perfect match for where the label’s compass is pointing us these days: music that prioritizes function over flash, made by producers who understand that the best club music serves the floor first, everything else second.

The title track sets the standard with an unrelenting 4×4 kick and cheeky donk-ish bassline, anchored to percussive foundations and augmented by ripping synth squelches. The EP’s engine is percussion and pumping low end, and he folds in robotic chirps, chord stabs, and wide, soaring pads to dial up tension. The result is stripped-down, efficient club tools sharpened for maximum impact in the club. Having cut his teeth with releases on such labels as UTTU, Hot Haus Recordings, and Chapeau Music, KEEFE channels and focuses his bouncy, raw energy into The Joint EP's four no-nonsense bangers.

KEEFE's approach reflects the best of club culture. It’s music made by someone who understands dance floors because he's spent years moving them. The Joint EP distills that experience into four pieces that do real work and still manage to grin.
