After a minute of setting a fresh, mellow tone of a thankful sadness, a bustling drum beat comes in to set things in motion. Soon the figurative steps are augmented by epic horns as the ascension begins. It shall have its hurdles along the way, but with “The Furry Stranger,” there’s a palpable hope in the air.

“F” kicks off with strong chords and a celestial voice. It’s a lasting song that takes its time to develop. Dead Battery understands the accident has changed him, and lifelong consequences shall be had. His outlook on life has also changed, which led him down the recovery path much faster than anticipated; however he knows there’s more challenges to face. The rest of his life never felt so real, and he’s ready for it.

A slow burn, a steady breath, escaping your parted lips. You look into my eyes longingly. Frantically. Panicked. 
In a moment, I realize you never learned how to let the air back in.

It’s a slow sort of death, I think… but we are all dying, aren’t we? Couldn't we just figure out a way to do it together?

Maybe someday, in the far future, they’ll dig us up and find our bones intertwined.

It's rare that I write music about a specific event in my life, or feeling, I usually just 'go with the flow' and write what feels right to me. For this tune however, I was really struck by the events in my life where I've seen myself almost 'self destruct' in a situation, watching from a distance almost, unable to stop myself. That feeling of helplessness, despite being in complete control.
