My punk arse needed to play something very raw immediately! Like right NOW! :) Gonna get bumpy and you've being warned! hell yeah, one minute (and now by persistent request two minutes :)! I bet it finishes earlier when you press a Skip button :P  

I broke 3 good guitar picks on my Yamaha electric bass on this outburst! and grinding the Fender Silver Bullet strings on Fender Strat, (couple of those on the cover art... ney I got more solid ones, but soft picks gave nice feel to jamn').  Played by me on Fender Start and Yamaha Electric bass. Used Line 6 Pod XT and B-52 LS-100 Head and 4x12 B-52 cab.

I grabbed kick and snare, tweaked bass synth for a jamming in Korg Gadget app on iPhone 6s. My Depeche Mode piece of DNA turned the thing into a session of interpretation for “I See You” too fast. I noticed the hook turns alike this fab song from my fav 1982 album “A Broken Frame”. I submit and had a blast!

100% organic Korg Gadget sound. Literally two lines. Drum and Bass (but not that DnB one). First is drum machine spirited beats, London. Second bad ass bass from gadget Dublin. Single bass track because synth notes choke and fight each other this way. Small post treatment in Ableton Live 9.7 for more fun. British and White Channel compressors by IK Multimedia. T-Racks Classic EQ, Plate and Hall Reverb CSR, Quad Image IK tools. Automated.

Notes:
Spoke with some one and they said "hey man,  too much typing".  Sad but probably true.  

First and foremost I want to take a moment to say thank you Jay(Deadlover80).  You have endured months of weekly updates and have been a fantastic production partner though the whole thing.  I have enjoyed every minute of it.  Honored to have your back for another great song.  Love what you do my friend!

Inspiration projects are a flash in the pan, they resolve quickly and are done before you know it. Sometimes its a crafting project and those can take a while to get through.  What we had here was a crafting project that started back in Feb 2017.  

Jay sent over the central riff and vocals and we set terms.  We agreed that this run we should push to move the bar forward.  I am sure there are moments Jay was at his wits end with me as a result

Recordings were rejected and re-done over and over looking to capture the right moment.  My recording track counts are in the hundreds in an effort to nail a take that made me say, yeah that is the right one.

Some stuff was crafted stitched in and then dropped,  things that originally sounded great until things got tightened up....then it was back to practice and recording.  In the end Jay and Thom crafted a song that deserved a musicians sweat and honesty.  We drove hard to deliver that. The cutting room floor is littered with sessions that required too much editing, were the wrong vibe, parts that just weren't going to fit.

Finally the central theme that ran through this project and I feel really good about, comes from an early conversation Jay and I had about re-recording.  "It's art, not a race, keep going until you have right take."  Think that pretty much sums up this project for me and I hope that is the feel that comes across on your side of the paper cone. 

 It's not perfect,  it however feels right and I think when it is all said and done... that's the thing that really matters. 

I hope this inspires you to learn about Bukowski's works yourself if you haven't discovered them.

This song was written by a good friend of mine (Thom ) many years ago, we  played it together acoustically, its a song I love and always wondered what it would sound like with a full band. This is where my good friend Tainted Icarus (Jeff ) stepped in.

I approached Jeff just over 4 months ago about working with me again on another song and although he had other projects at the time he accepted (game on)

I sent Jeff over the main riff and vocals and then we began the long road to mould and shape the track into what it is now, most importantly without losing the songs heart, which is something Jeff and I were very conscious of.

Anyway I'm going to wrap this up by firstly thanking Jeff for all those many many hours of writing and producing to make this song happen,  it's been fucking fantastic working with you again I'm 
already looking forward to the next project and to Thom someone I've been playing guitar with since I was a kid we have had great times drinking, writing, playing guitar, drinking .. Some good songs have been churned out using that method :)

Graveyards is a song Thom wrote a few years back, yet another from our acoustic days, the track is one of my personal favourites I've wanted to get it out there for a long time but never really had the technical know how to do it justice. I sent Jeff (Tainted Icarus) a copy of the demo a month or so ago, I wont go into details but he's helped me no end to get together a workable production which he was then able to master, thanks buddy.

With Thom's lead guitar work and Jeff producing the track we have something that I'm really proud of.

Undercover Hero (Now That I Know) - mastered by Tainted Icarus

Challenge was to make one of my shorter songs with one of my longer lyrics, so I 'had' to craft it into an amalgam of 9/4 and 4/4 signatures. Thus, it may feel crazy on verses but I hope also catchy on refrains.

Letra / Translated lyrics:

As I Am is a true collaborative effort from conception to finished execution. This project fired up in March and has been a whirl wind of recording, re-recording and more recording.

What we have today is not what we started with and it took everyone on board to get to this place. Jay, Thom you guys brought your "A" game to the table and I am honored to have shared this moment with you two.

As I Am (DeadLover, ThomDust)

My songs are like buses.......nothing for ages, then a bunch in quick succession!
When Hiroshi hinted to me that he would love to collab, I was delighted, as I very much admire his work! In due course I sent him a song, which he liked and said would be fun to work on.
Usually I keep my acoustic in my songs, as it is the backbone, keeping the rhythm and vibe. Hiroshi has replaced this with a fantastic bass which stays true to the original acoustic riff. From there he meticulously built it up and had the unenviable task of having to deal with my complex vocals. He said it was quite a challenge to organise the instrumentation , especially due to its unfamiliar combination between melody lines and chords, and to the unusual time signature at the beginning.
Thankfully he enjoyed the task and threw himself wholeheartedly in to it, which I think you will hear for yourself, as it is a powerful and dynamic  piece of work....and the guitar solo Epic!!

Inspired by a modern technology filled future but held in the past with outdated human idiologies affecting the entire planet slowy chipping away and creating all this out of control social divison across the planet bringing the end game and slow extinction process ever closer and our scientists have warned us we need a fundimental change if our one and only paradise planet in deepest of darkest of space is to be saved, however seems its buisness as normal and profit before planet is fully on the menu with our short sighted money puppet politicians and super rich continuing to slurp up the corruption and extert there control and dominace over our repressed materilaistic socialy divided societys flooding and feeding social media with the same old outdated idiologies lost in 1000s of years of human myth and legend that we so dearly hold upon ourselfs as the truth and teach our childern as the truth, blindly following money, religion and owner ship of land like mindless zombies and then disagree about it and have wars which are the very things tearing down our societys and the destruction of nature and life on this planet!  

We have social media outlets that could encourage us to be more environmently and socially friendly instead we are encouraged and brain washed by watching the same adverts over and over to buy materialistic things like furniture or some green liquid in a plastic bottle to wash the dishes and poision the enviroment, dont forget to buy your lottery tickets you want to be rich so you can be happy! You must go to work everyday and become a fully funtional brain washed member of society so you can buy furniture and get drunk and forget your worries the planet is fine have another drink maybe a pint or two of cider its glamourous and makes you happy all in the pursuit of profit, this deadens our brains and keeps us focused on money and going work paying those bills while we bow before a select few like they are better than us all! No they are not they are humans just like you and me who share this planet and the time has come to end this out of control repressive manipulisation which is eating away our societys and decaying this planet and all its wonderous life that exists no were else in the universe! 

We live in the future with furniture and technology not the past and like all life thats ever existed on this planet we need to evolve to benifit the entire planet and all life not the few so our childern and all life can enjoy this paradise in space forever! Life is special for everyone and everything and deserves to be treated as such! Fire up the passion with this foot stomping thought provoking say it like it is get it off your chest tongue and cheek original electro gaming revolution cosmic peace and unity binaural acid trance psychedelic reflective spoken word manga journey! I came up the riff for Thirteenth kiss back in November, I shared this with Jeff (Tainted), Thom (dust) between the three of us we shaped and molded this track into this slick Grunge 80s rock style vibe which I love.. Working with them is always a pleasure and we had some laughs along the way, I'm already looking forward for our next project.

	Nothing exists without the pieces...each piece adds its sliver of magic to the whole.  As the project grows, the magic grows beyond the boundaries of what was capable by the pieces alone.  The slivers ignite, they burn like a forge and melt the pieces together into something uniquely its own.

	Sitting in the production chair waiting for the pieces arrive... where the story starts and where it ends, is miles apart.  At some point in the process the magic seeps in and I marvel at how that comes about.  One moment you open the session and it is simply different...more alive...more of something. That's the thing worth chasing... it's worth witnessing...it's worth touching if only for a second.  

Tainted Icarus (Jeff) : Working on this has made me feel cooler than I have any right to feel.  I got to work on, play on and sing on a great song.  Jay nailed something great right from the start.  From the moment I heard it... I thought "Hell yeah... I want to be part of that".  Our first meeting, we all agreed  we are going to focus on crafting a piece of music that was something we wanted to listen to. Mission successful for me!!!

AskOTheODust (Thom): Its's a rare magic that helps me drag myself from underneath this weighty blanket of dust. J and Jeff have provided that magic on several occasions now. The process never ceases to fascinate and excite me. "Nothing exists without the pieces..." and this is the creation of pieces of Tanited Dead Dust.
