Though his main sound inspirations are firmly electronic these days, his is a diverse soundscape that’s very much indebted to a glut of contrasting different sounds and emotions. No wonder then, that his return to our mix series really does take the listener on a metaphorical ‘journey’. Crafted at an afterhours, it highlights the many sides to his palette, weaving through up-tempo and trippy numbers alike, and even culminating with a forthcoming, as-yet-unidentified track from his ETO label. Adriatique’s new label Siamese returns with its second offering, the debut EP from electronic live duo Stereocalypse.

Title track ‘Lace Star’ is a subtle yet hypnotic record. Sterocalypse utilise the full duration of the track to add layers to an ever evolving soundscape, with a guitar, echoing synths and a subtle bassline coming together towards the track’s climax. 

It’s followed by the humorously titled ‘Not A B Side’, an atmospheric cut with a fusion of percussive and electronic elements giving it an exotic feel. The EP rounds off with ‘Shandy’s Eagle’; showing a little more of the duo’s experimental side, its trippy synth layers and soft bassline make for an ideal way to round off this eclectic EP. 

Stereocalypse aim to combine experience and instinct, analog feeling and modern textures in their boundary-free work. A completely new project from two experienced producers, the ‘Lace Star’ EP is a statement of intent from the duo.

De Pe La Noi series aims to go deep into the Romanian undeground to discover the beauty of this holy land and the amazing people that inhabit it. Each episode will feature a Romanian artist mixing only Romanian sounds and pointing out a few places and people that inspire him into his work. The series celebrates 100 years since The Great Union (1918), the moment that marked the birth of modern Romania.

De Pe La Noi 003: Faster

The young talent has a vibrant catalogue showcasing the variety of his output. He is equally at home with melodic techno, acid and broken beats, such as on his releases ‘Teriyaki Donut’ and ‘Telepathic Seduction’ on James Zabiela’s Born Electric imprint. Last year he joined Sasha’s Last Night On Earth roster with the uplifting yet groovy ‘Marlon Brando’ EP.

Headed up by ascending, London based artist Jody Barr, Portable Minds is an independent imprint that aims to operate outside of the constraints of close-mindedness. The intention set by Barr is for the platform to allow both himself and his peers to express themselves freely without having to compromise their productions and the output will predominantly take the shape of single-artist EPs that showcase the more daring and unique facets of participants studio skills.
