I think my answer is, pretty simply, that you can indeed feel joy from a life lacking in suffering, but that your experience of it is definitely not as heightened if you haven't first experienced suffering or if you have experienced mostly joy at first, then suffering, then the joy will feel all the more present and poignant when it does appear.

Humans against wolves obviously don't understand what survival means. Let's loathe and fear something because it wants to eat. In that case, let's all hate humans. :P
