At my school (UK. Secondary, then academy) to start with we had jumpers and polo shirts, trousers or skirts. You had to wear your jumpers so you couldn't see the shirt under the bottom of it, ask if you wanted to take the jumper off and put it back on between classes, and skirts had to be no more than a post-it note (the universally recognized unit of measurement...) away from the knee. Boys couldn't wear skirts. Then when we became an academy, we got blazers, jumpers, shirts and a clip on tie (which I found hilarious, because my ten year old brother, in a different county, gets a real tie...). If you get too hot, you have to take the jumper off, but you cannot take the blazer off, and the skirts are tartan? In sixth form, we can wear what we want, as long as it is suitable for a (somewhat relaxed) office job. Girls aren't aloud to wear stuff that shows too much skin, boys aren't aloud to wear shorts.
