Freeride Millenium's IMPACT series serves up a second volume of innovative electronic sounds, this time from Delicate Features, On Bells, Venice Arms, Younger Than Me, Birds & Zamal.

IMPACT extends a lockdown conversation that label boss Jorkes had with Lisa Jäge about how essential parties are for freedom of expression. During those times, it was brought home that club culture is vital for exchanging ideas and feelings, drives change and provokes debate about everything from gender identification to sexual liberation. As such, the pair set up discussions under titles such as 'Clubs as Places for Freedom and Emancipation’ at the WAF Galerie that Lisa co-curates. Planned new talks will coincide with the two further instalments of IMPACT, the first of which manifests musically with this superb six-track collection.

Russian-Armenian collective Delicate Features open up and describe the music they make as "soundtracks to Rene Magritte's pictures, where day and night exist together." Their 'Without You' is a beautifully delicate and late-night track with spine-tingling vocals and icy chords. On Bells then feature d.r.a.b. on 'Alive', three minutes of heavenly vocals offset by dark bass and chords. There is a bitter-sweet melancholy to it that leaves a lasting impression. Venice Arms is a new side project from acclaimed dark disco artist Curses, and 'On Ur Mind' is a cavernous bass track with old school jungle influences and shimmering melodies that bring a state of euphoria.

Berlin-based, Italy-born Younger Than Me is a rebel who brings old rave energy to new school club sounds on labels, including Duro and NEIN. His 'Miss Gilda' is a slow and heavy groove with grinding drums and coarse synths unfolding up top. Birds is East London's Katie Wilkinson, who fuses new wave 80s goth, techno, psychedelic and experimental on her shadowy and bleak yet alluring 'A Pointless Trip'. Last comes Germany based US emigree Zamal, a Dj who holds a residency at the label’s Romantica Club parties. Here he brings his broad musical taste to 'Inthevoid', a deep and dynamic techno track with cerebral synths.

IMPACT Vol. 2 is another superb collection of avant-garde club sounds. Volume one is out now, the third is due in February 2022, and all instalments come with photography and artwork by Daniel Rajcsanyi.

„The Fox And The Raven“ is the maiden release for Denise Rabe´s self titled label, conceived to be the channel thru which her personal, unfiltered, haunting sound will find it´s body and voice.

Exemplifying this with the 3 cuts on “The Fox And The Raven”: driven, hypnotic, techno with a chasing sense of urgency, balanced with eerie lamenting melodies, perfectly fitting the tales of lore chosen to illustrate each release like a volume in an odyssey.

Concluding this chapter, a limited pressing of 300 reproductions serigraphed, embossed and scented, echoing how like fables, music, occupies a tangible moment in the listeners life and space.

With some devastating news last weekend, we learned of the tragic passing of a Berlin legend Maik Marold aka Mike Wall as he is known to many. The Wall Music label head and regular party promoter at the Suicide Circus club has left a huge hole in many hearts as he was one of the most forward thinking musicians and loved figures of the scene.

One of his close friends made this track dedicated to him, using their production moniker as a way to remember this time through the music he gave so generously too, raise awareness, and spread the word of love and support.

We would also like to kindly mention that you may make donations to support his family of wife and children via the YouCaring link (campaign finished) Mike Wall’s Family Members link, as many of the community have done so already upon hearing the terrible news of Maik’s death.

STAUB comes back on wax for a third episode. Following the no name policy from the parties which started 5 years ago in ://about blank, it is time again for unknown artist to shine. This new EP sees the shy producer appearing on 4 tracks of pristine techno. A1 is an atmospheric trip while A2 is more brutal, on the B side it is going weirder and darker. We think Unknown Artist tries to craft interesting techno cuts and that he loves variety.
That it is the idea behind STAUB since its beginnings, it does not matter whether you are a newcomer or Lady Gaga, what matters is the quality of the music. This is what was again aimed with this third record.

For its seventh release, Obscura - the thriving label of Italian trio Agents Of Time - returns to the compilation format to welcome exciting new talents and core label acts. 

‘East Coast’, the Agents Of Time track which opens the release, is at once tough and atmospheric, with delicate pads suspended above the rugged, syncopated rhythm. London Modular Alliance complete the A-side with an organic jam of bleeps, bass and crisp percussion. Next, Australian Jensen Interceptor contributes a fresh cut of rapid-fire electro which leads neatly into the sci-fi tones of ‘Welcome To My World’ by newcomer Golden Virgo. 

Following a full EP on Obscura earlier this year, Hiver is back with the elastic bassline and dreamy arpeggios of ‘Stasys’. Orbe, a remixer on Hiver’s EP, impresses with ‘Never Comes’, a similarly restrained and endlessly detailed journey through the depths. 

The final side is split between Laguna and Kris Wadsworth. The former tunnels further into the hypnotic side of Obscura’s sound whilst Wadsworth’s crunchy, Detroit techno ends the release on a high. With ‘From Sound To Silence 2’, Agents Of Time have compiled eight, stand-out tracks to explore the full range of their dancefloor sensibilities.
