Exos is the Icelandic label head of Planet X and has recently brought attention to the terrible events in Colombia against its own people. Corruption, unfairness and police brutality from the government entities spawned the release of a 99-track fundraising compilation from the techno community featuring Nina Kraviz, FJAAK, Oscar Mulero, Marcel Fengler, Rødhåd, Ben Sims, Psyk, Jonas Kopp amongst a multitude of others, and you can check it out HERE to support the many charity organisations helping in the country.

The newest EP for the label welcomes back Gotshell who is proving himself as a ferocious force from the Colombian scene having now released his excellent music on the likes of Bas Mooy’s Mord, James Ruskin’s Blueprint, Ellen Allien’s BPitch, as well as collaborating with Jeroen Search for Shlomi Aber’s Be As One imprint.

For this DT:Premiere we chose the opening track “Cluster” that is a dark and moody monster. Abstract to some, it’s also fully functional, as it explores a spacey and analogue aesthetic with warping, modular bleeps that breathe and morph over the growling bass tremors.

Tokyo techno maven Risa Taniguchi unveils “When I See You” EP on the formidable Second State. No stranger to the Berlin label, Taniguchi released her “How We Dance Again” EP just last year, in addition to a number of contributions to the label’s compilation series.

Warped synth keys, claps, flurried hi-hats and a muffled kick welcome you into “Mute Everything”. Chopping, skittish percussions cut and jolt across the heaving bass, simulating a frantic energy. A rolling 303 line dances with brightly shining synth notes. Towards the close, the synths are stripped away and the percussion takes over once again, with only the subdued acid and bass line at play.

Argentina-based label West Rules continue their superb output with a new VA titled Alien Connections VII that includes tracks from a wealth of upcoming talent.

Standing out amidst the eleven tracks included is the highly rated Pyramidal Decode from Italy, who has released music on quality labels such as Edit Select Records, Abstract Division’s Dynamic Reflection, Fernanda Martins’ Devotion and Vegim’s TMMR.

For this DT:Premiere we selected his track “Atr” with a sinister mood and twisted sounds. A stabbing and muted synth rides through a spacey, analogue atmosphere, allowing tension to build into two powerful waves of satisfying climaxes.

Following their highly acclaimed 'Alpha ep', released on Pfirter's MindTrip record label in 2020, Pfirter and Oliver are now taking the concept one step further on to Par Grindvik's Stockholm LTD record label.
If Alpha was all about loopy old school sounding techno, 'Beta' is taking a deeper approach without reducing the raw energy that the two producers are known for.

Oliver and Pfirter have spent the last few years honing a unique writing process.
The process itself is very simple, as the pair explains:
- Most tracks start with that Oliver recording live takes with his machines, then passing these recordings to Pfirter who is in charge of the mixing and arrangement.
So far we haven't done many retakes or even had to revisit the tracks more than a few times says Pfirter.
