PREMIERE: K-Deey - Pay Day (Marc Faenger Remix)

Gravitational Forces is a new underground techno label from CMPND (BE) in Belgium, and has previously featured artists such as Joton, Amine Kohb, PS11, and Dorbachov.

Belgian-based K-Deey is an experienced veteran with a longstanding production back catalogue, and his new EP titled 'Awake' follows contributions to labels like Marco Bailey's MATERIA, Arnaud Le Texier's Children of Tomorrow, A.Paul's Naked Lunch, and Paula Cazenave's Combine Audio.

The first remixer Marc Faenger is a German artist with appearances on top labels like Pfirter's MindTrip, Luigi Madonna's Contempo, Oliver Rosemann's Nachtstrom Schallplatten, DifferentSound, amongst others.

Label head CMPND (BE) completes the remixes, and he is an ascending Belgian artist with music on ORKS imprint
and Void Rhythm, while he has been absorbing the illustrious nightlife scene for over 20 years to become a revered DJ, drawing on influences from many native pioneers.

Opening with "Awake," it has a raw, pumping groove with jackin' claps and twisted melody that's full of energy.

"Pay Day" continues the powerful aesthetic, with a throbbing bassline and dystopian textures of introspection.

Marc Faenger turns up the heat and tension on his remix of "Pay Day" with a darker and more cerebral trip into the outer realms of mechanical atmospherics.

"Ring Twice" has a focus on stabbing chords and old-school flavour of punchy rhythms and relentless fervour.

CMPND (BE)'s rework of "Ring Twice" strips things down to a spaced-out and hypnotic ride that later lifts the intensity and adds an eerie feeling from melancholic tones.

"Mistral" closes out the release with its ruthless, percussive workout and uncompromising values that are pristine for any abiding dance floor.

Space Telescope is a selection of very solid dancefloor tracks. On Side A, Jeroen Search uses just a few elements to build clean, powerful minimal grooves. Side B features Evod’s synth-based tunes with catchy, repeating melodies and an electro edge. It’s a journey from tight minimal beats to energetic, melodic highs.

Byron Alvarado is a Costa Rican-based DJ, producer, and promoter who's somewhat of a local hero in the capital's bubbling scene. A Music Producer graduate who has released on Nastia's NECHTO, Ellen Allien's BPitch, and H. Paul's Induxtriall, he holds residencies in key clubs in the city playing alongside Stef Mendesidis, Héctor Oaks, and Fiedel, amongst others.

DEADCERTPODCAST022 - Byron Alvarado

After leveraging his imprint to provide a platform for deserving talent in techno, VAST Recordings boss Spencer Hardwick has offered up the label’s third release. The Introspection EP takes clear inspiration from the Blade Runner films and their challenging narrative around self-referentiality. It comprises three original singles as well as two remixes by  Jason Patrick and Mike Derer.

“Are These My Memories” ushers in Hardwick’s body of work with a distinct sense of urgency. Wandering synth lines fall and intertwine repeatedly in a hypnotic haze, referencing the cognitive dissonance that might be caused by not trusting one's own memories. Unintelligible spoken-word samples only add to the psychological intrigue.

The second track of the EP, “Is This Real” depicts an increasingly tenuous and fleeting grasp of reality. Tense arpeggios and melancholic atmospheres evoke a sense of intense introspection and uncertainty.

No concrete resolution lies in store on Hardwick’s final track, “Why Can’t I Tell Anymore.” Its warbling melody poses more questions than answers, raising the stakes as each sonic layer enters the arrangement. The effort thus opens a door for Hardwick to explore similar themes in upcoming works.

Adding dimension to the EP are accomplished American artists Jason Patrick and Mike Derer. Jason’s remix reimagines “Are These My Memories” with dubby, reverb-soaked chords, keeping the tempo high while instilling more dynamic intensity throughout his rendition. Mike’s remix of the same track casts it in a psychedelic light, complete with resonant percussion and glimmering stereo artifacts.

What are our memories? What is reality? What is being alive? How can we know for sure? In the Introspection EP, Spencer Hardwick proves himself capable of transmuting such riveting quandaries into music. In doing so, he carries forth techno’s rich legacy of taking cues from science fiction, hinting at what’s to come from his rapidly growing discography.

Glasgow's Animal Farm label has a longstanding history, launching in 2013 the Scottish imprint lists music and remixes from Oscar Mulero, Markus Suckut, Setaoc Mass, Jonas Kopp, Edit Select, and many more.

Production duo RCHTR and Invalid Request are both from Netherlands, and the pair have landed their quality music on Audio Units' Observant, PRTL WRX, and their own Derailed Records.

For this DT:Premiere we selected "Fallout" with a broken beat and gritty sound design. Spacey, modular pulses are met with dystopian atmospherics in a dark-edged, analogue journey with subtle, deep tones for an intense cinematic listening experience.
