Float Records' first vinyl release is a fact. And what could be better then to divide it in two equal parts, where the first output reflects the second. Label owners TWR72 proudly present you 'Reflect'.

The first remix comes from Düsseldorf based producer Markus Suckut. A subtle angle is taken on Reflect which makes the remix feel sustainable. A perfect track to include in his already impeccable oeuvre. All the way from Finland is analog devotee Samuli Kemppi, who takes care of the second remix. Samuli creates a sudden tension which keeps on building until the very end.

A001, from Amsterdam, turns the track into a obscure remix with a perplexing second half. A001's mysterious and quiet appearance is a paradox compared to his musical output. TWR72 closes the EP with the bonus track 'Response'. A solid and barbarous answer to Reflect. No further words are needed.

UK based Techno producer best known by his work on the Belgium based Token Records and whose style ranges from gritty minimal techno to Detroit influenced material. Originally a Mastering engineer, Ø[Phase] began producing as a sideline, releasing his debut 'Module Overload' on Steve Bicknell's Lost/Cosmic records in 2000. This was followed by a string of productions for London's Surface/Inceptive Records and Ben Sims Ingoma imprint, all of which saw consistent big name support throughout the techno community. He started working with Token in 2007 and since then his music has progressively gained more & more worldwide attention - most significantly on 2012's much acclaimed 'Binary Opposition' single and subsequent 'Reprocessed' remix package. Recent times have seen him remix for the likes of Robert Hood, Peter Van Hoesen & Mark Broom amongst others while avid support from Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock have led to several appearances at Berghain in Berlin. We are huge fans of the Dutch maestros @TWR72 and the relentless quality of their imprint that goes by the name of @FloatRecords.

Check out the first half of this double pack Reflect (Part 1) that included Developer, Kwartz and Myk Derill. It’s an honour to select this original track from the guys themselves on the next instalment that enlists Markus Suckut, Samuli Kemppi and A001 on remix duty.

“Response” is a whirlwind of intensity and manic power. Crunchy kicks and rough textures filling the mix get this gem going, where the synth stabs and siren-esque squeals make this a monstrous beast. Haunting organs and a tom drum providing an obscure ‘tick tock’ at the final break finish it off with great suspense.

> 01. What was the thinking behind this track and did you achieve what you set out?

Actually this track was a sort of follow up for ‘Balance.’ It was intended to sound a bit similar but with an improved character. As you can hear, the processing of the main synth is pretty much the same, but the sound on Response is a bit warmer. The overall feel is also a bit more aggressive. We were busy with a new working method at the time on how to process our sounds to give it more character and depth. Sound wise but also the rhythm of the sound. We can say that we achieved some goals on this track, but with every track we produce it’s always a surprise where it ends up.

> 02. What tips and advice can you share to any producers on shaping their own sound?

Be experimental, because there are no rules.

> 03. What is your go to track at the moment by another artist?

This a good opportunity to use some shameless promotion for our own imprint Float Records. As label owners we have the possibility to create a platform for the music we love. And there are a million ways to run a label and there are millions of decisions you can make. We feel that the Techno scene is extending in a good way and we’re trying to contribute in the development of it by giving talented producers a chance. We recently signed Fisssh and Kuf which is going pretty well. The upcoming release is by Altinbas. He did a track called “Imminent Probe” and although it’s a pretty basic track, it worked every time we played it. It was and still is our secret weapon in every set.

With recent appearances on Boiler Room and the Groove Magazine Podcast plus sets across Asia and Europe, Jamaica Suk’s fearsome Techno sounds are winning fans far and wide. A year on from her debut release on her own Gradient label comes this stunning second volume.

Jamaica's Whispers, released on the vinyl imprint she launched last year, is a three-track digital release with a fourth vinyl-only track.

"Fallen" sets it out of the stall immediately, with filtered down acidic bass playing out a jagged groove. A manic counterpart mimics its rhythm but dizzily delays off the beat to create a rugged, funk-fuelled feel. Cymbal rides pitch up and down; unidentified snarls of FX mutate around the edges; all the while the sharp hi-hats keep the metronomic heartbeat going.

The third collaborative EP sees Clergy boss, Cleric, team up with French artist Kmyle. On remix duties is Blueprint label owner, James Ruskin, in what is a perfect way to conclude the final chapter in this series of five releases (CRG011 - 015). The ‘Empty Shells EP’ is due for release April 12th.

‘Empty Shells’ offers an unusually stripped back approach, concentrating on the raw modular rhythm that carries the track. Ruskin then offers his own perspective, adding sparse percussion and different synth elements to offer a driving counterpart to the original.

The flip side starts with ‘Vostrax’, a strong, powerful production that teases you with acidic elements that breathe in and out of solid rhythmic, distorted drums. For the final track of the EP ‘Televised’ slows things down in tempo, but still offers a hard hitting edge.
