Miss Monique’s Siona Records imprint strikes once again with 3 more masterful progressive cuts that feature Evelynka & Sasho Derama combining on 2 originals, and a fine remix from Ukrainian duo Two Are. 

Hidden Rumours original mix kicks us off with a deep melody and a whispy female vocal that draws you in, while the percussion rings out below and builds to a glorious crescendo - a natural hit for any dancefloor. 

Two Are then step up to remix, and deliver a more driving edit more suited for the middle of the night, whilst the vocal still delivers to mesmerising effect for any listener. 

Finally Evelynka & Sasho Derama combine again for another original When Sun Goes Down, more enticing and deep magic more suited to the beginning of a set, but one that sets the tone for the more driving beats to follow. 

All in all another fantastic EP for the Siona Records back catalogue, and more reason to make this label one to keep looking out for.

Yeröm returns to ICONYC for a new release, this time around in collaboration with Aves Volare. The duo delivers an absolute classy piece of music entitled 'Hold me Down'. The Belgian and German based duo have been a mainstay in the electronic underground with their meticulous curriculum of musical productions. 

They kick things off nicely with their original mix of 'Hold me Down'. The melancholic moodiness shines through, as we meander effortlessly through club inspired melodies, while the sultry chords and vocal sit wonderfully on top adding an extra layer of depth. Yeröm's trademark beat manipulation is prevalent, as all manner of elements drift in and out of earshot while Aves wonderful vocal work completes the picture. Perfect for any melodic loving club crowd and to get you in the mood for a big night out.

James Harcourt, who has seen his releases featured on some of the world's best and beloved labels, marks his debut on ICONYC with a classy rendition of 'Hold me Down'. He created a rework full of tension from the word go, as the atmospheric vibe subtly keeps you moving with warm tinkling sounds, a deep edge and some nicely effected sounding pieces. We basically have the formula for a bit of a monumental outing. The sparseness is the key here, as his restrained gem works its magic while it plays away, creating a warm melodic glow with an air of sophistication. "Essential stuff!"

Next up we welcome Four Candles for his debut on the label, the English maestro, fresh off some smashing releases on Bedrock and ICONYC Noir delivers two superb reworks for some peak time madness. Known for his polished sound, he keeps the general structure of the original alive, as the pulsating bass powers along, before drum fills and general warmth all combine to do the talking. Like something from yesteryear, yet sounding fresh and upfront – His transcendent touch ups take the energy levels up a notch, but increases the melancholy and energy with stripped back and lucid elements at the same time, changing the vibe and creating a blanket of energy that wraps around a brilliant driving groove. Superb!

This spring saw seasoned XYZ contributor Koelle team up with multi-instrumentalist Reza Safinia on Reverie, a two-sided offering which saw the union of electronic tones and orchestral influences into a dance floor affair. As the fall arrives to Montréal, we're pleased to present our biggest remix compilation to date. 6 artists from the broad melodic house & techno spectrum will offer their versions of the tracks over the weeks to come. The second volume of the Reverie remixes showcases talent all the way from Germany to Brazil, with the mandatory stopover through the label's home city of Montréal.

To round up the pack, we're pleased to welcome two of the most exciting Brazilian producers of the moment. Through waves crashing and aquatic textures, BLANCAh & Mariz offer their remix of ‘Reverie', surely inspired by their close ties to the legendary Warung Beach Club. The dialogue between arp and lead synth amplifies Reza Safinia's soothing voice as the tight drums carry us through the storm.

Born into this world with a love for all things creative, it was only a matter of time before BLANCAh would spread her wings and shine on an international level. Hailing from the beautiful Brazilian city of Florianópolis, she has built a solid path for herself in music production, defining her music through melodic compositions, with each of her tracks being a work of art in itself. Her natural talent and musical influences have quickly progressed, allowing her the opportunity to explore different sounds and refine her skills in the studio. BLANCAhs work is about so much more than bringing her music to her fans. Her art depicts sensitivity and versatility which combines to create the unique essence and form of self- expression that BLANCAh is. Often utilizing her own live vocals, her sets in clubs and at festivals always stand out for originality. The ethereal producer and DJ has also been a regular on the European club circuit, especially in Berlin. With tours in Australia, China, India, Central America, South América and the Middle East, BLANCAh has developed an international following with her unique approach to melodic techno in the live environment. Her commitment to stay true to her roots has pushed her need for creative expansion and, in turn, strengthened her ability to stand out from the crowd. Brazil has played a crucial role in developing BLANCAh’s place in electronic music. In 2016, at the highly acclaimed “Rio Music Conference”, BLANCAh was presented with the esteemed “Revelation Of The Year” award. Since her early years in the underground scene, she has held residencies at two legendary Brazilian clubs - D-Edge in São Paulo, and Warung Beach Club, one of the most sought after venues in the world. BLANCAh has become one of South America’s breakout stars with a CV that includes some of the world’s most renowned platforms. In welchen musikalischen Stilrichtungen siehst du dich?
Ich selber bezeichne es gerne als “Spacy Techno”. Ich würde es als einen Mix aus Dark Melodic Techno, Psytechno und Indiedance bezeichnen. Richtig festlegen kann ich mich da nicht. Ich verbinde gerne mehrere Stile miteinenader und lasse mich auf die jeweilige Stimmung der Veranstaltung ein. 

Wie bist du zu deinem DJ-Namen gekommen?
Als ich gerade angefangen hatte aufzulegen, bekam ich spontan einen Festival Gig, hatte aber noch keinen DJ Namen. Bis zum nächsten Tag sollte ich mir was überlegen. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt war ich gerade Campen am Strand und hatte in der Nacht zuvor mit einem Teleskop einige Sterne beobachtet. Einer davor war aus einer “Supernova” entstanden, also aus einer Sternen-Explosion am Ende der Lebenszeit eines Sterns. Der Begriff “Supernova” und dass daraus wieder etwas Neues ensteht, gefiel mir richtig gut. Ich entschied, dass in meinem Fall mein DJ Projekt, so entstehen sollte, was ich dann etwas abgewandelt “nøvae” genannt habe.

Auf der ФУЗИОН !

Hast du ein absolutes Lieblingsset?
Ja, das Andhim Set von der Fusion 2012! Ich war damals das erste mal dort und kann das Set bis heute rauf und runter hören <3 (Sorry, einige Leute können es glaube ich nicht mehr hören, haha)

Welche Artists haben dich inspiriert oder inspirieren dich noch immer?
Diese Liste könnte unendlich lang werden, da ich in den verschiedenen Phasen meiner Entwicklung immer wieder neue sehr inspirierende Artists entdecke. Seit Jahren gehören auf jeden Fall Mollono.Bass, Lampé, Anyma, Hidden Empire und Township Rebellion dazu, um mal eine Hand voll zu nennen....

Gibt es bestimmte Rituale oder Gewohnheiten, die du vor einem Auftritt hast, um dich vorzubereiten?
Nicht direkt. Ich bin aber gerne etwas früher bei der jeweiligen Veranstaltung um schon mal die Technik zu checken und den Vibe der Veranstaltung mitzunehmen :)

Wenn du nur noch einen Track für den Rest deiner Karriere spielen könntest, welcher wäre es und warum?
Tristesse von Kollektiv Turmstrasse. Das war einer der ersten Tracks der vor über 10 Jahren mein Interesse für die elektronische Musik geweckt hat. Ein Freund hat ihn mir damals gezeigt mit dem Video von Fantasia dazu. An die Zeit denke ich sehr gerne zurück <3

Was machst du sonst gerne in deiner Freizeit?
Ich liebe es  zu verreisen und in der Natur unterwegs zu sein. Ich mache außerdem Yoga, spiele Tennis und hab immer irgendein Projekt an dem ich gerade herumbastel. 

Was ist dein Lieblingsessen?
Selbstgemachtes Curry mit ganz viel Gemüse.

Was willst du der Welt noch mitteilen?
Dazu ließe sich ein ganzes Buch schreiben... Ich fasse es aber mal kurz zusammen: Seid nett zu euch, euren Mitmenschen und der Natur! Es gibt keinen Planet B!

Witchtape #181 | Guest Witch : ᒍEᗰᔕKI.

On that cold and windy morning in early December, Hekske (the little witch) woke up when Falke (the 10 year old witch apprentice) snuggled once again under their moss blanket to keep warm and dry.  The weather was absolutely miserable with ice-cold melting snow lashing down mercilessly on the forest.
After getting up, the girls drank a warm mug of herbal tea and their mood brightened up considerably when they realized it was the full moon day, which meant they’ll participate in the monthly witch coven (which always takes place in a different location and in the ever-changing company of a third witch). A little later the girls took off from a clearing. They knew they would reach their destination just by following their deeper intuition. To their great surprise, they were flying very slowly in western direction. This meant that the coven would be really close by. 
They were heading straight to the ‘Bois de Leuze’ forest, which is only a few miles away. The witches were puzzled, because they had visited this forest before, and back then no witch was living in these woods.
The girls gently touched down in a clearing, surrounded by giant beech trees. The forest was really dark on that day, and full of mushrooms, which was very unusual in December. There were stunningly beautiful fungi from many different species, like fly amanitas and yellow stagshorns. Hekske and Falke had never seen so many mushrooms and admired this miracle of nature in awe.
But suddenly the silence was rudely interrupted by the crashing sound of a falling tree. They saw a giant beech tree tip over and fall down with such a force that the earth started to shake, followed by an eerie silence. This was all quite strange as there was no wind at all. 
The saddened witches went to have a look at the dying tree until Falke suddenly started to scream. It appeared that an unconscious witch was lying in the hole under the roots. Hekske rushed to the scene, and they both pulled the witch out of the hole and laid her on a soft bed of moss. Her body was pale and cold, but Hekske could feel a faint heartbeat. Both Hekske and Falke tried to warm the witch up with the power of their hands, and slowly a blush started to appear on her face. She was beautiful and young, with a very special pale skin color. A few minutes later she slowly opened here mesmerizing green eyes and started to look around. She looked very confused. While Hekske kept her company, Falke prepared a herbal tea. And after taking a few sips from this brew, the witch became very alert. The first question she asked was which year it was. Hekske replied that is was the year 2024. The witch looked really bewildered by this news, and she hesitantly explained that her name was Quintine, and that she had gone into hibernation in the year 1610, as she fled for the people of the nearby village of Ellezelles who wanted to burn her at a stake. 
Hekske and Falke hugged Quintine and reassured her that witches were no longer being persecuted in the year 2024, and that she was safe now. They helped Quintine back on her feet. Her body was at first very stiff after 414 years of hibernation, but slowly her nimbleness came back. She was overjoyed to see all these mushrooms, and she told Hekske and Falke that the she knew the recipes of some powerful magic potions using these rare fungi. The girls collected some firewood, lit up a bonfire with a floating spark and started to prepare their first magic potion of the day …

When I was invited to perform at the Rainbow Serpent Festival I confess I did not know what to expect. What's more, this was my first international festival. I went to Australia without expectations, precisely because of this ingenuity of not knowing what was waiting for me on the other side of the world. But when I stepped on the festival grounds I was sure it would be unique and special in my life. It was 4 days of pure immersion in art, music, knowledge exchanges, listening to good music on all the stages, meeting new and fresh artists that I had never heard about before. Since I was going to perform on the last day of the festival, I had plenty of time to absorb the energy of the place, the energy of the people, the community concept behind it all… I could think of exactly what kind of music I would like to deliver to these people. These people deserved to float on beautiful timbres, to release their souls driven by melodies and elevated feelings. I chose my favorite songs to do this. And I sincerely hope they were as happy as I was in these two hours of music.
