Dee &amp; Kamy is the up-and-coming group from one of the Baltic states – Lithuania. Although it was created only 3 years ago, in the February of 2007, the group has already contributed a considerable profit to the Hip-Hop culture of the Baltic Region. It might seem difficult to describe the style of the music that Dee &amp; Kamy produce. Mainly, the genre is rap, including funk, soul and jazz elements. The music that the group creates is generally inspired by such artists as Marley Marl, Gang Starr, Main Source, Eric B. &amp; Rakim, Pete Rock &amp; CL Smooth, Big Daddy Kane and many more.
There are two young men that make up the group: Dee creates music and produces it, while Kamy is the group’s voice and the author of lyrics. Needless to say that Dee &amp; Kamy’s live performances leave no stone unturned, enthralling even those not interested in rap music.
Continuing with their events, Dee &amp; Kamy warmed up Ja Rule during his tour in Europe, the legendary Sugar Hill Gang, Slum Village, Jungle Brothers etc.
In August, their debut album ”Original Taste”was released. There are 18 songs in it and all the rhymes are written in English. The overall idea of Hip-Hop is not dead – the very first edition was bought up in a month’s time. Moreover, several works from the album have received a considerable interest and promising prospects.
At the same time, these rappers joined the most distinguished Hip-Hop label in Lithuania – Gatvės Lyga, which was set up by Lithunia’s three times DMC champion DJ Mamania, one of the best country’s MC Svaras, “the library”- Mironas and DJ Mantini as well. It is worth mentioning that ‘Gatvės Lyga’ combines of a radio station, record studio, etc.
Talking about the winnings, the group has already won two awards. These are “The best video clip of a year” and “The best music group of a year”, gained in “Pravda Awards 2010″.
