We welcome everybody’s favourite Bristol based DJ and producer, Eli Brown, to ABODE this month with his ‘Rush’ EP. Following a career as a highly respected drum & bass producer, Eli Brown has now become one of the most exciting acts in the House music scene. His productions have appeared on Toolroom, Sola, Repopulate Mars and VIVa, and have garnered support from A-List DJ’s; Annie Mac, Monki, Groove Armada and Solardo. Lead track ‘Rush’ kicks things off with shuffled percussion and a pulsating low-end with a captivating vocal hook. ‘Get It Together’ completes the EP bringing party vibes with playful drums, a mischievous bassline and grooving low-end.

Formerly known as Bini & Martini in the late 90s, Paolo Martini & Gianni Bini have reunited this year for a collaboration in the form of the Eyecode EP on Solardo’s esteemed Sola label.

With many years of experience under their belt, Paolo Martini & Gianni Bini boast a wealth of knowledge, talent and skill in the new EP. Lead track Eyecode is a heavenly slice of tech house, featuring warping synth breakdowns and a captivating vocal hook demonstrating immense production from the pair. Meanwhile, Paolo Martini takes the reins in intricate b side Freaxs weaving amongst cosmic chords and euphoric drum patterns marking an epic debut for both Paolo Martini & Gianni Bini on the Sola label.

As Bini & Martini, the duo have released notable originals including Soul Heaven and Disco Down whilst remixing the monumental Soul Providers – Rise on Azuli Records as well providing official remixes for the likes of Armand Van Helden, Diana Ross and Jamiroquai. As solo artists, Paolo Martini has released on Hot Creations, Repopulate Mars, Moon Harbour and more whilst Gianni Bini’s quality productions have caught the attention of industry innovators including Pete Tong, Sasha, John Digweed among others whilst touring all corners of the globe including South Africa, Mexico, Australia and Singapore. With a highly awaited reunion, the months ahead look bright for Paolo Martini & Gianni Bini.

The summer season might be all but over, but the good times keep on coming courtesy of this latest missile from Do Not Sleep by Luuk Van Dijk with a top remix from Ben Sterling.

Amsterdam based talent Van Dijk has had music in his bones since his youth and next to laying down sets at Paradise, Awakenings, elrow, Cocoon he has held a residency at Straf_Werk and released on taste making labels like Hot Creations, Solid Grooves, and Circus Recordings. He saves his best for Do Not Sleep however. 

In the District is tight, tough, hard hitting house music with interwoven drums and bass that get right under your skin and make you move, while synths and percussion peel off the busy groove. Blunted then marries warped basslines and crisp claps with woodpecker hits. It is atmospheric, stripped back but effective house that makes an immediate mark. The remix of In the District by fast rising UK talent Ben Sterling is another brilliantly direct track with prying bass loops, freaky vocal echoes and a late night sense of mischief. 

This is another vital offering from Do Not Sleep.

Ben Rau’s impeccable META label opens up its 2020 account with a super two-track release from Rossi. Fast establishing himself as a DJ and producer on the ascendency, and with the support of tastemaker DJs such as Jamie Jones, Enzo Siragusa, and Apollonia, Rossi’s productions have been bending ears and moving feet for some time now, and his debut for META does not disappoint.

Title track, ‘Nova’, pairs low slung bass and a hypnotizing groove with dreamy synth refrains and chopped vocals, for a classy and sophisticated deep cut, whilst ‘Solao’ cuts its cloth with funky bass slaps and swinging beats, keeping the mood bouncy and breezy.

With prior releases for HEDZUP Records, PIV and NO ART, as well as continually touring the world, from SASH in Australia to the undergrounds of Colombia and all over Europe, 2020 looks set to be another busy year for Rossi. and his debut for META kick-starts the new decade as he intends to go on!
