"Trying to capture the feeling of summer in the Northeast is tough, the most concise summation I could muster is, "finally here, it's almost over" because honestly thats how it feels up here. (not to mention that by the time I finally ever do a summer mix, it tends to be almost over). That feeling of fleeting warmth and beauty coupled with my city emptying out every summer (byyyye students!) is what I tried to capture in this mix, and for me this is what it sounds like inside my head when I step out of the house and start walking on those first warm days. It's also my attempt to extend the summer feeling a little longer than the weather usually allows us to. It's a funky little 55 minute trip through some disco, cumbia, funk, afrobeat y mas. DJ Resoul pays tribute to one of Berlin most important club-nights of the last 20 years: Jazzanova's residency night Kaleidoskop. For this mix he chose tunes that where played there and that era (around 2000). Resoul was a regular dancing guest and an occasional dj there.

The long-running party's roots reach back to 1999, with its beginnings at Berlin's famed WMF club. The multi-membered Jazzanova collective have helmed the nights, that attracted international guests such as Louie Vega, Gilles Peterson, Carl Craig, Maurice Fulton, Phil Asher, Dego, Questlove, Mr. Scruff and LTJ Bukem over the years.The club-nite showcased the sounds of hip-hop, house, disco, jazz and boogie that Jazzanova are renowned for championing in techno-friendly Berlin.
