Harnessing the joint creative force of two of V Recordings’ most exciting producers, The Turbulence EP is a tour de force, with L-Side & Andrezz delivering in a range of styles.

Two of the V Recording’s stables most exciting prospects, Andrezz and L-Side have already made their mark on Liquid V and Chronic. With a back catalogue featuring respected labels such as DJ Marky’s Innerground Recordings, Vibration Recordings, and Soul Deep Records as well as his huge Resistance EP, Andrezz joins forces with Chronic. Originally a hip hop producers, L-Side’s brand of minimal Drum and Bass has already seen his Brainstorm EP featured on the all-new Chronic imprint. Now the two join forces for an all round blend of quality Drum and Bass.

More than the sum of its parts, the latest release on V Recordings sees Andrezz and L-Side combine their talents for an EP that walks the line between dark dancefloor
DnB and Melodic liquid. Kicking off with one of the darkest tracks you’ll hear, the title track is a deadly dancefloor number - harking back to some of V sister-label Chronic’s darkest releases. Taking things on a different vibe, Overtime shows yet another style to one of V Recordings' most exciting pairings. Laid back and chilled with a bass tinged vibe, ‘Overtime' is the perfect blend of melody and crushing bass weight. The third track see’s L-Side remix Andrezz’s Neanderthal with atmospheric results. Keeping the same vibe as the original but adding his Chronic approved style, L-Side produces another banger. Taking things on a sunnier vibe.  the melodic sounds of 'Better Days’ work to produce sunny uplifting contrast whilst the duo show yet another side to their production style with  ‘Archeology’. Rolling out the tribal beats, Archeology touches on yet another style of DnB, ending what can truly be described as an all-round EP.

This guy has been working like a beast in the lab and is churning out tracks left right and centre so it should come as no surprise the head honchos at Shiftin Beatz HQ have snapped up another couple bangers from him. This time round sees Premium taking it a little deeper and coming out with some raw results, proper screwfacw material. Smashing up the jump up scene and as always gaining some top support and exposure from names such as Grooverider & Sub Zero. It takes a certain kind of artist to make a successful album. It's a different prospect from a series of two- or four-track releases. In D&B, it takes a producer whose got a deep musical understanding and a many facets to their style so they can reconfigure to constantly hold our attention. It takes a producer who's got a story to tell and a journey through which to guide their listeners. Anyone who's been keeping up with L Plus's work over the last few years will recognise that he's one artist who fits that description precisely.

So, here's the first taste of his forthcoming debut album, “Hideout”.

“Timelapse” takes us straight into IMAX mode. The wide-open panorama conjured up by the atmospherics and the expanding percussive hits at the beginning of the track set the scene. The build keeps things crisp and clear, with L Plus showing how to create anticipation out of just a few expertly-programmed elements. And then the rowdy stomping drop, featuring immense grinding sweeps of bass, delivers on that build perfectly. And, of course, things don't stop there. You're going to want to let this one run right to the end, to take in the full majesty of the visceral deconstruction of the tune in the extended outro.

Then, we enter a twisted world of B-movie sci-fi with “Creature Must Die”. Dissonant pads and reverberant drums back up the eponymous dialogue sample in the intro, building to a stripped-back robot funk bass drop. This is far from being everything that L Plus has to offer in this track, though. The deftly executed builds and riffs, deploying discord to powerfully tension-increasing effect, bind the track together creating a wave of movement which belies the deceptively simple beat and bassline pattern. This is a stepper which is sure to find a home in the arsenal of many discerning selectors.

Ever since L Plus landed on Technique Recordings he's been consistently impressive. Connoisseurs will have detected the subtle musical brain at work even in his most rhythm-driven floor-fillers. And, those same connoisseurs will already be getting hyped for “Hideout”. As this first salvo demonstrates, it's going to be something monumental.
