The first in a serious of mixes using only tracks sampled through-out the history of Drum & Bass; Following on from those old Ultimate Breaks & Beats LPs from back in the day, sampled in Hip-Hop from, what is now known as the Golden Era!
The selection here is all Classic Hip-Hop only! Every track has been sampled in Jungle and DnB tunes since '91. In parts I've chopped up some of the breaks and samples to recreate classic sections of oldskool tracks. I welcome any spots / IDs etc.

Babylon Warriors

I've mixed a treat for you. Possibly some of the ruffest, funkiest and pure quality Afro Beat, Highlife, Ghanaian and Nigerian Funk. After a classic Nas sample source, you'll hear the sounds that supposedly influenced the likes of James Brown and Jimi Hendrix. Speaking of Jimi, listen out for the instrumental cover version of Crosstown Traffic - I've cut in the original vocals too... Plenty of organ, plenty of bass, plenty of horns and most importantly of all, plenty of drums! Tracklist on request

Voodoo Funk

One of my remixes extracted from the Babylon Warriors mix. A Few good Jazz grooves, with a nice use of the Funky Drummer break, chopped-up to hit hard! What more can I say about the De La / Chaka Khan combo. I've always loved this tune and I hope my remix compliments their vocals.

The first in a series of mixes taking you...
...Back Into Time!

This is and will continue to be a selection of my all time favourite Hardcore, Rave, Proto DnB tunes from 1991 - 1992. It was this era in music that got me into mixing and DJing. I was always fascinated how these tunes were put together, at a time when nothing like this had really been done. Sampling early house, Hip-Hop and electro tracks from the previous decade, these tracks pioneered what would become, in future years, Drum and Bass!
Listening to these tracks now I'm still astonished at how advanced they were, considering the equipment available at the time. Remember this was a time before the internet was used to connect with musicians over the world, a time before forums and blogs, a time before Ableton and laptop DJs; A time of innocence! 
I always add a special element of remixes or re-edits to my mixes, this one is no exception. I have re-edited the first few tracks into an oldskool classic mash-up and then added "What Has The Finest Done? (SoundCloud Edit)" to the mix later. 
I hope you will be taken Back Into Time and enjoy the trip as much as I have enjoyed selecting the tunes from my collection. Please contact me for track IDs etc, via the usual channels and feel free to link this on your blog or forum...

Passing Me By...

This one is from way back in 2005. A proper mash-up mix! From the chopped up samples in the intro, to the Straight Outta Compton remix, to my own various remixes and movie samples, there's something for everyone. Kicking off with my Gangstarr remix/mash of DWYCK (heavy b-lines), it moves into my Gangstarr/Notorious BIG remix/mash of Nasty Boy, then gets heavier and deeper from there.

It's Not Just Hip-Hop

A live eclectic mix I knocked up a couple of weeks ago. Pulled out some classic Trip-Hop / Breakbeat tunes, mixed up with some Hip-Hop, Acapellas, Library and Soundtrack breaks. Quite a few tunes on this all live as a one take wonder (feel you need to indicate this nowadays), but this is my usual live style... For when the clubs re-open!!

I started collecting records around 1985 and DJing since 1991. I drop many different styles; Oldskool Hardcore, Drum & Bass, Reggae, Dancehall, Hip-Hop, Trip-Hop, Heavy Soul & Funk, Jazz, Rare Groove, Northern Soul, Psych, Dusty Breaks, Disco and a bit of House & UK Garage. 
I got into producing tunes back in 2004, after finally getting some kit together.
I always add an element of Oldskool flavour to my mixes, just so you know that I know where all this originated!
