Most people familiar with the music of Marie Eline will recognize her beautiful distinctive singing voice and heartfelt dictation of bittersweet lyrics. Completely stripped from that - this release solely aims to showcase her curious and playful universe as an instrumental composer. Trust and experimentation is key for Marie who - in her own words - only creates music to challenge and surprise herself. Navigating instinctively through polyrythmic synth ambience, guitar doodling, psalm-pop structures, weird samples, church organs and metronome-like drum machines - she creates quirky but adventurous soundscapes weaving through harsh realism and a sort of down to earth grandeur that feels equally at home in some deserted forest as in a remote industrial space. The only thing matching the fearless approach in these simple recordings is the complex wonder they leave behind.

MARIE ELINE HANSEN - NOT REALLY

Rafael Cohen aka Los Latidos was born in Mexico City to Guatemalan parents. He grew up in the DC punk scene, and released records on Dischord and Touch and Go. He has also played and recorded with jazz legend Anthony Braxton. 

Currently he tours the world and writes songs as a member of Warp Records mainstays !!! and has written and recorded a collection of more intimate songs in Spanish under the name Las Palabras.

This is his second release as Los Latidos and his first for Throne of Blood. His previous release, on Jun Records was described as “a feast of acid squelches, breakbeats and house kicks” by Resident Advisor. “Please Believe Me” is built on the same foundations but expands the palate somewhat with acoustic guitars and field recordings. 

The vibe is warm and hypnotic, recalling the breezy vibes of old school Throne of Blood artists Cosmic Kids. With three jams that range from low slung acid grooves to gently jacking house underpinned by a hands in the air bassline, Los Latidos has delivered a soundtrack to summer dusks and dawns.

All tracks mixed and mastered by the one and only Justin Vandervolgen.

DC Promo Tracks: Silk "Somethin' 'Bout The Way" (Original)

As he prepares for a new album in 2024, Gallo teases us with his ‘Hidden Inside EP’ on Hell Yeah. This new outing comes not long after his Tropical Hinterhof Remix of Calm's sublime 'I Love You'.

At the vanguard of the nu-breed Balearic movement, Gallo is a mainstay. Part of the Balearic Gabba Sound System crew, and Buena Onda resident, he has an uplifting sound that has come out mostly on Hell Yeah but has also had music selected for compilations that include Cafe del Mar and Colleen’ Cosmo’ Murphy's Balearic Breakfast. The Berlin-based artist is currently working on his debut long player but first shares with the world these four enchanting cuts. 

'Life on Preset' is a gorgeous downbeat groove embellished with majestic keys that twinkle while gentle chords melt the heart. 'The Last Bud (Beat mix)' slows down further with dusty trip-hop breaks overlaid with pulsing synths to have you gazing off into the distance, lost in a hazy late-night reverie.  Here Gallo showcases his mastery of dreamy, ambient synth work as he suspends you amongst heavenly rays of light and bright white fluffy clouds on 'Hidden Inside'.  Closing down the EP the hazy lazy piano house grooves of 'That Moment' conveys feelings of pure blissed out joy and peacefulness.
