Leaving the balcony, the sweet smell of brine still in his nostrils, he went over to the desk. A small cone of shielded light shone down over the tape-recorder and rack of spools. The rumble of the wardens’ unsilenced engines always gave him at least five minutes’ warning of their arrival, and it would have been safe to install another lamp in the room—there were no roadways between the hotel and the sea, and from a distance any light reflected on to the balcony was indistinguishable from the corona of glimmering phosphors which hung over the sand like myriads of fire-flies. However, Bridgman preferred to sit in the darkened suite, enclosed by the circle of books on the makeshift shelves, the shadow-filled air playing over his shoulders through the long night as he toyed with the memo-tapes, fragments of a vanished and unregretted past. By day he always drew the blinds, immolating himself in a world of perpetual twilight. Bridgman had easily adapted himself to his self-isolation, soon evolved a system of daily routines that gave him the maximum of time to spend on his private reveries. Pinned to the walls around him were a series of huge white-prints and architectural drawings, depicting various elevations of a fantastic Martian city he had once designed, its glass spires and curtain walls rising like heliotropic jewels from the vermilion desert. In fact, the whole city was a vast piece of jewellery, each elevation brilliantly visualized but as symmetrical, and ultimately as lifeless, as a crown. Bridgman continually retouched the drawings, inserting more and more details, so that they almost seemed to be photographs of an original.

PALE PENGUIN’s one of the key figures in Greek electronic scene. Based in Thessaloniki, Greece, he’s been djing for almost 20 years being one of the best Greek Breaks/Techno/Tech-House djs. In his portfolio there are appearances in big festivals (Sola Luna, Balkan Voices, Urban Rhythm, Reworks, Butterfly, Spring Festen) alongside Slam, Felix Da Housecat, Dave Angel, Luke Slater, Dominic Eulberg, Modeselektor, Rob Luis (Tru Thoughts), Coldcut, Octave One, Eddie Piller etc, and many venues throughout Greece and Europe. He has done warm-ups to artists likes Rjd2, Thievery Corporation, Richard Dorfmeister, Nightmares On Wax, Kid Loco, Mushroom (Massive Attack), Frank Popp, Bjorn Torske, Bentley’s Rhythm Ace, Snowboy, Hooverphonic etc. He was one of the first radio producers playing Breaks/Drum n’Bass and Electronica in his legendary “Tricknology”, “Brainwash” and “Cinematica Paradiso” radio shows.  Since 2003 he’s resident dj in Bar/Club Elvis, Thessaloniki, Greece presenting Friday “BreakTech” nights in which he has hosted Meat Katie, Lee Coombs, Tom Real, Malente, Andy Smith, Ursula 1000, Smacs & Crazy Sonic, Lee Bass and Aidan Lavelle. He was also resident dj to legendary club Liebe, Thessaloniki, Greece in which he has done warm-up sets for Meat Katie, Kevin Saunderson, AtJazz, Break The Box etc. He has done exclusive mix sets for many net radios (Ibreaks Radio, NSB Radio, Breakbeat.Ca site, NuBreaks Radio), exclusive mix CD’s (“Battle Of The Breaks” series) for Freeze magazine, he has performed dj sets in Thessaloniki’s International Fair, Thessaloniki’s International Film Festival, has took part many times (as member of the djs team) in the biggest Balkans Hip-Hop/Breakdance/Funky Breaks event “Battle Of The Year/Balkans”, and in many clubs throughout Europe (Flex Club/Vienna, Arttheater Club/Cologne, Art & Dance/Cologne, Rivolli/London, Club Montepulciano/London, South London Pacific/London). HIs production activities begun with SCOPITONE CONSPIRACY & POZITRONIC RAY and since 2006 he’s member of THE SCIENTIFICS-a Breaks project which have released singles and remixes for labels like V.I.M.Breaks, Erase, Basstard, Yellow Finger Communications, Warriorz Music, performed live throughout Greece, Italy and Germany, and being presented in many sites, radios, forums (BreakinAsia, Breakbeat Canada, Annie Nightingale Radio 1 Show, Ibreaks Radio, NSB Radio, Nu Breaks Radio etc). Since early 2007, together with Echonomist and Mr.Lookman, launched and manages V.I.M. (Very Important Music) Records, releasing quality Breaks, Tech-House, Electronica singles and albums by many International and Greek artists. From the beginning of 2009 he has formed with KID STRETCH the Funky/Disco-Breaks project PALE THE KID. Focused mainly on Electro Disco-Breaks sound they have managed to release stuff for Breakbeat Paradise, V.I.M.Breaks, Dirty Drop, Warriorz Music and Timewarp Music. In the beginning of 2011 together with STAMA he had launched DIABLO LOCO RECORDS, a label specialized on top quality Tech-Breaks/Tech-Funk releases. DIABLO LOCO RECORDS managed to do an awesome start with awesome singles and remixesand gained BREAKSPOLL 2012 BEST NEW BREAKS LABEL AWARD.
