'Often times a group of artists come together to create something alluring and magical, and the “Tomorrow” EP from the duo of Umami and Turkey’s Zigan Aldi is just that. The title track weaves dynamically through a range of sound and percussion, constantly contorting and braiding the parts to a defined peak that comes back to drive it home.

“Who Knows” is a beautifully crafted vocal over a bed of whimsical beats and elements that transport the listener to divinity.

Up next on A Tribe Called Kotori, please welcome Berlin's very own Madmotormiquel - all set and ready to storm the house after several transmissions on an array of quality outlets, including our good friends at Katermukke. His maiden incursion on the label, "Bombo", will not only be released in digital shape as per usual for the rest of our catalogue, but also in 12" vinyl format - with the special and endearingly peculiar trait that each cover is hand-designed by Chrisse Kunst and Madmotormiquel himself, making these collectible one-off pieces of art to adorn your shelves with. 

Opening cut and lead-single "Bombo" sets the wheels in motion at a slow and steady rate, progressively fleshing out its initially stripped-back funkiness with a polychromatic webwork of tribal rhythms, spectral synth murk and frizzling machine talk. The quirky "Kohiko" serves up a mischievous buffet of further syncopated moves and chirpy chimes pouring in cascades as a sturdy bass unfalteringly dictates the momentum. 

Shifting the scope to no-nonsense floor-busting objectives in its first stages, "Timezone Chaser" slowly evolves from sheer DJ functionality to jazzed-up abstraction through perfectly inlaid superimpositions of processed clarinets, dubbed-out drums and an overall hazy sound design to satisfyingly lose yourself in. EP closer "Rodrigues" opts for a more jagged approach, as it fuses skittish snares and hats at the fore with deep and vaporous pad tapestries in the background, resulting in the kind of heavily FX-layered, acid-leaning sleepwalker that'll keep the dancers' legs in motion even though their eyes seem shuttered.

With "Ada" our dutch genius Arjuna Schiks is back. Proved on dancefloors all over the world, we can say, this track won’t get out of your mind and your body. With Jonas Saalbach we have a great remixer on board, who knows how to handle dark sounds and bring them to a new and open dimension. The main melody from „Ada“ comes back wrapped in break beats.

"Muda Esprit" is filled with friendly rhythms and more power for a summer night. Beatamines developed a fresh and easy remix of this typical Schiks-production. The claps are warm and light footed, the melody is catchy and bright. The remix is more metalic and the groove gets wilder. You’ll find yourself dancing on a beach into an endless night.

Come back into the club. "Navitas" picks you up and tells you a story under soft lights, with your feet back on a cold floor of stones and your mind far away. It is a melodious trip with harder breaks and less heat. We finish with "Hyphen" as bonus - only available for those who know where to find good stuff!

Arjuna Schiks - Muda Esprit

Brooklyn producer Kyle Louis returns to Working Rhythms with “See You / Be,” a new pair of tracks that capture the artist’s most reflective and raw aesthetic.

Like many musicians during the pandemic, Louis explored new sounds and ideas while locked down in his New York apartment. Created between 2019 and 2020 and mastered in 2022, these recordings have remained in the vaults until now. “See You” is a warm and melodic chillout cut driven by a breezy breakbeat and shimmering synths. “Be” is a slower tempo deep house tune with hazy chords, tweaked percussion, and a healthy dose of Balearic atmosphere.

In finally releasing these lost tunes, Kyle Louis revisits pensive moments from his past and continues his creative partnership with Working Rhythms Records and label founder D.D. Curry.

Dutch producer genius Love over Entropy takes on Masaya's track 'Haumea' and comes along with a driving seven minute piece of art and bliss. Starting almost 'in media res' Michel, Love over Entropy's real name, the track evolves with every carefully chosen element. Saying Michel's Edit peaks is only partly true as the track itself shines out as a standalone tune in the course of a set.

'Haumea', taken from 'Picking Up the Pieces: The Editions' by Masaya is out on Chapter 24 Records on June 9th.

Like the Greek legend Icarus, Wax Wings is soaring towards greatness. Taking after his Brazilian father, a musician and British mother, an artist, Wax is a man of many talents. From his visual creations in paint, graffiti and photography to his fashion, make-up artistry and of course music production, his abilities span endless forms of expression. 

Alongside his own releases, Wax has also found the time to work with artists from Skunk Anansie’s Skin through to the Dead Can Dance’s Lisa Gerrard and remix Maya Jane Coles, Nocturnal Sunshine, Eli & Fur, Zebra Katz, The Presets, Skindred, Vök, Sofi Tukker, GAPS, Fischerspooner and Bronski Beat.
