Modular Project is an eclectic Italian duo formed in 2014 by Alberto Iovine and Alessandro Fumagalli. Their style influenced by Italo Disco, New Wave and Rock sounds from the 80's is very recognizable because they merge Electronic, Indie and Techno using powerful drums, driving synths making an emotional impact. At the beginning of 2017 they remixed the Blond:ish classic 'Wizard Of Love' on Rebirth Records that it was one of the most requested tracks on the label of the last years. Thanks to this collaboration with the Italian label, they opened their own imprint 'Nothing Is Real' and in the meantime they joined as resident djs VOLT club in Milan having the pleasure of playing alongside renowned names such as Ellen Allien, Mano Le Tough, Barnt, Peggy Gou, Kiasmos, Pional and more.

David Kochs first emerged in 2019 on the release of a split EP via Huntleys & Palmers affiliate label Belters – he then went on to appear on And Music.

The tracks were weird, wonky and have since gone on to cause raucous energy on dancefloors the world over having been picked up by prominent dj’s and tastemakers.

Like many others he has remained relatively quiet over the course of the pandemic. However, earlier this month we received an email detailing a forthcoming album, as well as a string of releases on some of the biggest record labels in modern dance music.
 
It seemed right to feature him in this series, given what is to come and we feel this mixtape solidifies and emphasises just how significant his music might be next year.

Following their successful releases on Chequered Wax, Fresh Take Records and Andras Records, Bristol & Brighton based duo Sonic Juncture, comprised of Josh Twigge-Molecey & George Protheroe, share their latest EP 'Planetary Pursuit' with Westival Records. 


Their opening track, 'XDimensional' hits us with an attention-grabbing sub bass that continues throughout, with a variety of synth textures and a running bassline to take the listener on a spook-filled, trancey journey from beginning to end.


The second track on the EP 'Thursday Groove' is driven by a rubbery bassline, jazzy chords, and crisp percussion. The track cruises through rich synth textures and subtle atmospheres, striking a perfect balance between laid-back groove and dancefloor intent.


'Find My Way' teases us with delayed, garage-like vocals and a mixture of energetic percussion combined with an arpeggiated bass, synthy riffs and tambourine sounds for the track's duration.


In true alignment with the EP's title, 'Planetary Pursuit' (Dub Mix) forms a progressive banger starting with saw tooth synth riffs and an 80s style snare, which make way for a groovy bass synth at the drop. The soulful vocals (Vocal Mix), saxophone reverbs and pipe-like synth throughout add further layers of differentiation to a chaotic yet atmospheric floor-stomper.

For the first episode of Talk To The Artist by Aera powered by Paradise Distribution the Berliner welcomes Kristian from Âme in the latter's living room, commonly and widely known as Muting the Noise. It's already been 15 years since Frank and Kristian from Âme and Dixon founded their Innervisions label and started their triumphal procession – 15 years in which obvious qualities have become even more patent, namely Kristian's skills as a curator for the mother label Innervisions and as the man behind Exit Strategy's latest compilation Monodromie – a musical selection dedicated to setting the vibe for a long (club) night. In an all intimate chat at Muting the Noise the in-demand maverick shares insights into his musical mind, how he spends the time without DJing and touring, his role with Frank in the studio, his Drum 'n' Bass trauma and the role of Chateau Flight and I:Cube for Innervisions and generally for his musical mind-set and development and seeing the big picture.
