Tastemaking British producer and Disc Over Music label boss Tim Green makes his debut on the highly acclaimed Canadian based My Favorite Robot Imprint. His EP contains 2 brilliant originals and comes backed with two remixes from Visionquest’s Ryan Crosson.

Tim has been at the very forefront of the UK underground scene over the past 5 years. His off kilter grooves and ever-evolving house and techno sound has seen him release with the likes of Cocoon, Get Physical & Dirtybird. In 2013 Tim launched his first ever live show at the esteemed London Festival SW4 which proved Green to be a dexterous performer with plenty to say for himself, as does this new EP.

The lead track, ‘Helpless Sun' is typical of Tim's need to always surprise the listener, the track constantly evolves and changes in effortless fashion. Starting with lush guitar licks and atmospherics and quickly moving to growling baselines, broken beats, a humungous breakdown, 4/4 and to top it off an amazing vocal from the highly talented new vocalist Hayley Hutchinson. This is the kind of track 99% of producers out there wish they could make. The result is stunningly epic.

Ryan Crosson is at the heart of contemporary techno as part of the Visionquest collective.The first of his two remixes totally deconstructs the original into a swelling and driving dance floor monster with plenty of tripped out vibes. The second, an ambient mix, does exactly what it says on the tin – it’s a celestial affair that suspends you in mid air as synth patterns unfold and indecipherable vocals ebb and flow at the core of it all.

Rounding off the package, Tim's second original on the EP ‘Seti’, a lush and beautiful deep techno track with glowing harmonies and bright neon synths. A track that seems simple at first but on more listens proves to be as intricate and textured as its A side, constantly evolving throughout the build and crescendo's. This is another outstanding offering from Mr. Green.

Prior to its release on September 1st we present Hayun, the joyous second track from Sam Goku's EP. It is an emotive fanfare of gliding violins dancing above a conquering bassline. The accompaniment of birdcalls, blistering cicadas and trumpeting elephants result in the record feeling somewhat like an ode to mother nature. A track that emanates the surge of energy felt when exploring the wild. If you have the opportunity, we strongly recommend listening to this one whilst out in the nature. Wherever you hear it, we hope it makes you feel.

Laconia features collaborations with fellow producers Cioz and Cook Strummer, as well as a special apparition by Sam’s paternal figure playing the Oud on Mirage. The tracks explore a diverse array of dispositions, from groovy up-warmers such as Mangata or Louna to more lively dancefloor aggregators such as Kamala Bani, on to the deeply polarizing, whirlwind synth dinger Guz or the more experimental self-evident Not Much To Say.

A novel detail makes an appearance on Je te vois, an acoustic electronic dance number with poetic lyrics tenderly sung in French for the first time. The artist’s romantic side also shows through the mystical elements interspersed throughout, from the spellbinding Encanto to the dreamy soundscapes of Atreyu, named after the famous German fantasy book character.

Thanks to a modest key riff and more cosmic effects, Aubade lends its meaning of “greeting in the sun” to the atmosphere, rounding off the release on an incandescent note.

Fresh out of the camper is Joep Mencke’s Mataka Ep. After the success with his debut Asiri last year, we have been hooked on Mencke’s sound. With two solid originals and an adventure of a remix by the label bosses unders & Noraj Cue, Mataka delivers.


Tum sounds like you’re on a boat on tranquil water floating into a mysterious world full of wonders. Its dark, yet light. The mist makes you want to doze off but the claps, conga’s and busty breakbeats keep you awake. The horizon is hazy, yet the subtle swing is so clear. A whole new world lies yonder, come out and play, says Tum. More is coming, says Mr. Mencke, just wait for it.


The second production and the EP’s name carrier does not take any shortcuts. Mataka’s groove kicks in straight away. Little joyful bells enlighten the darkness. The moment you think Mataka can’t take you any deeper, Mataka erupts. Heroically it lets you know the battle is won,  Mataka made its mark, it's invincible. The shout of the Maori warrior after victory: Mataka!


In Mataka's remix, the atmospheric pad lets you float through the sky. Dreamy tickling bells are covered by a broad, open, wide sound. It triggers, lifts, it excites. Alice in Wonderland’s clock guides, the inception like dark is put against an angel’s voice kicking in. The voice is like a flower sprouting in spring after a long dark winter. Mataka’s interpretation by label honcho’s unders & Noraj Cue brings depth, it inspires and adds adventure.
