Hello my dear friends, welcome to a new edition of the Club Room. I am a really happy girl today because I have a guest in this Club Room. I am talking about a really good old friend and homie - Patrick Bodmer. You probably know him as M.A.N.D.Y.. He has been around for a long time, has big hits, was very successful and still is. And I just accidentally heard a track that he did together with his friend Maga feat. Inga Humpe. You probably know her as the woman of 2Raumwohnung. And I was listening to this track in my kitchen and it was not signed so I signed it right away on my label Sous Music. Time is on my side M.A.N.D.Y. together with Maga feat. Inga Humpe. So I asked M.A.N.D.Y. if he wants to contribute a Club Room set and he was digging deep. He gave his absolute best. So this is the Club Room of M.A.N.D.Y.. 

We are gonna have Pete Lazonby, we have of course the 2Raumwohnung, Perel, M.A.N.D.Y. together with Maga and Inga Humpe and I have a remix of it that he played in his set, Sam Goku and Paula Tape, Maglia is on the show, Catnapp and Geoffrey C, Mr Joe, Raxon, Nina Kraviz in a Ryan Elliott Tension Dub, Blawan, Rhode & Brown together with Benjamin Fröhlich, Mr. V and Wolf Story, Joe Smooth, Flug 8 and Acid Pauli, and we’re gonna Close the Club Room with Josh Butler.

3 QUESTIONS to GIORGIA ANGIULI:

Q: Your artist-image is full of colours and toys. What´s the story behind your doings? And which one is your favorite toy?

A: I truly love sound toys, especially the vintage ones! I do believe that if you play with unusual magical objects, sounds can become even more fascinating. Using colors in music is fundamental to me. I am not a big fan of circuit bending and I prefer to play my toys using a microphone, adding some effects, as chorus, reverb, delay. At present my favorite toy is a frog-shaped keyboard from the 1960s.

Q: You´re based in Italy. How would you describe the electronic music scene in your country?

A: In my opinion Italy is one of the most beautiful country in the world and there are many talented artists. We are creative and positive people but unfortunately the environment we live in doesn’t seem to support the electronic music culture. In our country clubs must close their doors at maximum 5 am and there are just a few clubs with a good sound system. There is no space for young and underground artists and promoters invite generally only mainstream artists and there is no time for deep music. Usually the party starts with music at 125 bpm! Anyway I hope that things will get better soon!

Q: Which releases are coming soon on which labels?

A: Honestly I am a bit confused at the moment about my next releases. I find it complicated to understand dynamics behind the music market in general as things are changing so fast. I would like to release “timeless” music on a label that really means something to me, working with people with whom I can build a real human connection! For me music is a language that comes from the heart and should really connect people. I know that it sounds more like utopia but I believe in dreams! I have a lot of new music in my archives and I want to wait and choose the best place for these tracks.

To close out The Brooklyn Mirage 2018 summer season this September 29th, The Cityfox Experience: Transcend, a festival with three stages hosting a cast of the finest and most inspiring in house and techno, LIVE and DJ acts, fresh and near legendary alike (https://bit.ly/2x6D35y). Among the cast is Berlin’s Anja Schneider, who prepared this latest Foxcast to hold us over. 

Cofounder of Mobilee in 2005, for years Anja served as the leading lady one of Berlin’s longstanding underground electronic music labels.  Only last year, she founded Sous Music, on which she released ‘SoMe,’ her largest body of work in nine years. While ’SoMe’ showcases the softer touches of tech house, Anja’s most recent EP ‘Prosperity’, delves into the darker trenches of techno.

With this Foxcast, Anja presents tracks that delicately and perfectly balance both, light and dark, a reflection of her phases and transitions over her illustrious career. Anja lulls us in with Marcus Worgull’s renditions of The Cure’s Love Song and gentle vocals, then switching gears to delve into minimal, weaving in dubby melodies, and layering in female vocals. Committing the mix to rhythm that strips all away to bare rattling drums, Anja ultimately cedes to the driving bass and high hats of techno that we all know and love.
